Chapter 1: Drain Her Blood
The night was dark and gloomy.
In the hospital corridor, Qin Xi was being dragged forcefully by two bodyguards, but she clung desperately to a chair, her nails turning white from the strain.
“Mu Jinhang, you can forget about me saving Qin Zhiruo! Even if she dies in the operating room, I won’t give her a single drop of my blood!”
“If she dies, you’ll go with her!” Mu Jinhang’s words were cold and ruthless.
“Ha, do you love her that much? What about me? What am I to you?” Qin Xi raised her head in despair, her tear-filled eyes revealing deep sorrow. “You used to love only me, but now you’re drawing my blood for that Jian Ren…”
Qin Xi was the sister of Qin Zhiruo; both sisters had Rh-negative blood, a rare type often referred to as panda blood.
Now, Qin Zhiruo lay in the operating room after a car accident. The hospital had no spare blood and was waiting to draw from Qin Xi to save her life.
Mu Jinhang looked at her with disgust. “Do you think I would love a promiscuous Jian Ren like you? Don’t dream! Qin Xi, ever since you and Ji Li betrayed me, you’ve made me sick! If it weren’t for Qin Zhiruo’s kindness pleading for you, do you think you could still stand here in front of me?”
“Kindness? Pleading for me?” Qin Xi suddenly laughed. “Mu Jinhang, for someone as smart as you, why can’t you see she’s just acting? I’ve been through it many times; she set me up with Ji Li. She’s not kind at all—she’s a venomous Jian Ren!”
“Slap!” Mu Jinhang struck Qin Xi across the face.
Her head snapped to the side from the force of the blow, a trickle of crimson blood escaping from the corner of her mouth. Her cheek swelled up painfully, and her once delicate face now bore a haunting desolation.
That slap from Mu Jinhang was truly vicious!
Qin Xi collapsed helplessly onto the floor but refused to give up. With one last thread of humble pleading, she said, “Mu Jinhang, if you break up with Qin Zhiruo and get back together with me, I’ll give her as much blood as she needs.”
Even if it meant draining her completely, she didn’t care; all she wanted was for the man before her to love her again.
The man looked down at Qin Xi with disdain. “The way you beg for a man’s affection is truly pathetic!”
Qin Xi's face turned pale in an instant.
For a moment, it felt as if something was slowly being drawn out from her chest, and that was the love she had harbored for Mu Jinhang over the past two years.
The corners of Qin Xi's lips twisted into a strange, bitter smile. "Yes! Mu Jinhang, you are absolutely right! It's my fault; I shouldn't have clung to you. You should be with a kind woman like Qin Zhiruo."
Mu Jinhang looked at her smile and couldn't help but furrow his brow, an inexplicable sense of unease and discomfort rising within him.
How could he possibly feel distressed over such a despicable woman?
Ignoring that strange feeling, Mu Jinhang coldly ordered his bodyguard, "Take her for a blood draw!"
...
"Mr. Mu, it's bad! Sister Qin Zhiruo's coagulation factor is problematic; we need more blood from Sister Qin Xi!" The nurse rushed out of the operating room in a panic.
"Then continue drawing," Mu Jinhang commanded.
"But... but that sister has already exceeded the prescribed blood draw limit. If we draw more, she might be in danger."
"Are you saying that if we don't save them, one of them will definitely be in danger?" Mu Jinhang narrowed his eyes sharply, his gaze icy as he stared at the nurse.
"Y-yes," the nurse stammered, shivering.
Mu Jinhang inexplicably recalled Qin Xi's bitter smile and snapped irritably, "No one is allowed to be in danger!"
The nurse was nearly in tears from fear. "This... this is unavoidable; please make your decision quickly."
Thinking of Qin Xi's desperate smile, Mu Jinhang felt an overwhelming agitation wash over him, a cold and oppressive aura enveloping him that left the nurse frozen in place, terrified.
He was clearly more concerned about Qin Zhiruo, so why was he hesitating over that damned woman?
Mu Jinhang clenched his fists and said coldly, "Draw! Keep drawing until Qin Zhiruo is out of danger!"
In the operating room, with Mu Jinhang's words, everyone focused solely on Qin Zhiruo's condition, ignoring Qin Xi's life or death as if she were nothing more than a living corpse providing blood.
Qin Xi felt a chilling emptiness in her heart, despair engulfing her like a relentless fog. Her body grew colder from excessive blood loss, as if she were trapped in a frigid ice cellar.
Dazed, she wondered why they hadn’t finished drawing blood yet. How much more did they need to take for Qin Zhiruo? Were they planning to drain her of every last drop?
Well then, let this life be returned to the Qin Family.
After all, in the eyes of the Qin Family, only Qin Zhiruo was their true daughter, while she was merely a discarded thing raised by others.
And Mu Jinhang—who once vowed to love her for a lifetime—now seemed to wish for her death. What a bitter irony!
She no longer wanted to love this man…
