Chapter 6: I Will Satisfy You
Mu Jinhang has truly imprisoned Qin Xi.
For five whole days, Qin Xi has been trapped in her bedroom, causing her adoptive parents to worry incessantly.
She can only reassure them, "I'm fine. I'm just out having fun with friends. I'll be home in a few days."
For the past two years, she stubbornly tried to win back Mu Jinhang's heart, creating a storm of rumors throughout the city, even losing her closest friends in the process. Now, the only ones who still care for her are Aunt Zhang and Uncle Zhang, who have raised her as their own daughter.
"Mu Jinhang, you better let me out soon, or I will call the police!" Qin Xi shouted angrily while banging on the door.
"Your phone is in your hand; feel free to call the police. I will make sure your adoptive parents accompany you to the station," came Mu Jinhang's nonchalant voice from outside, completely unfazed by Qin Xi's threats.
Qin Xi let out a bitter laugh.
How foolish she was.
This man is the eldest son of the Mu Family, skilled and powerful; he wouldn't be intimidated by her petty threats. Instead, he used her family to coerce her into signing that unbearable contract!
She would never sign it!
Qin Xi tightly gripped her phone, desperately searching her mind for anyone who could come to her rescue.
Just then, her phone suddenly rang, displaying an unfamiliar number.
“Hello, this is Qin Xi,” she tried hard to conceal her pain.
“Xi, it’s really you!” An excited voice came through the phone.
“Y-You are Ji Li?”
“Yes, it’s me.” Ji Li's voice remained as gentle and pleasant as ever. “Xi, I’m sorry. Two years ago, I was the one who caused you to break up with Mu Jinhang. I’ve felt guilty about it for the past two years and have always wanted to apologize to you, but I was afraid you would blame me and didn’t know how to face you…”
“No, Ji Li, I don’t blame you anymore.” Qin Xi forced a smile. “If anyone is to blame, it should be Qin Zhiruo; she set me up. You were also a victim. I shouldn’t have blamed you back then and made you feel guilty for so long.”
When Mu Jinhang proposed the breakup, Qin Xi had cut off all contact with Ji Li to prove her innocence. Looking back now, she realized how selfish she had been; Ji Li was innocent too, and she shouldn’t have held him responsible.
