Chapter 7: Qin Xi is Pregnant
It was hard to tell how many times Mu Jinhang had demanded her, until Qin Xi finally couldn't bear it any longer and fainted. When she regained consciousness, the sky outside was painted with the soft hues of dusk, marking the second evening since.
The bedroom was empty and desolate.
With great difficulty, Qin Xi crawled to the bathroom, her body covered in bruises and ambiguous marks, with hardly a single unblemished spot left. Some areas had even been bitten into.
It was clear that Mu Jinhang felt no pity for her at all!
For the first time, she felt strangely calm; there was no sadness, no pain, and certainly no joy.

After finishing her shower, Qin Xi emerged to find a servant placing dishes on the table. The servant looked at her with sympathy. “Qin Jie, if you don’t sign today, your adoptive parents will be brought here to live with you.”
The implication was that Aunt Zhang and Zhang Shu would also be held captive!
Qin Xi trembled with anger.
She knew that Mu Jinhang had no feelings left for her; he could truly do such a thing!
“I’ll sign!” Qin Xi gritted her teeth.
The pen left its final mark on the contract, signifying that Qin Xi could finally leave her cage. She had never thought that leaving Mu Jinhang would feel like such a wonderful thing.
Mu Jinhang stood by the window, watching as Qin Xi left the villa without looking back, as if she would never return and would no longer shamelessly cling to him as she once did.
This was precisely what Mu Jinhang had always wanted, yet this time he felt an inexplicable discomfort in his heart, an impulse to pull Qin Xi back.
He resented how his emotions were swayed by her. Looking at the elegant name on the contract, he suddenly felt it burn in his hands. He abruptly threw the contract at the servant and coldly commanded, “Lock this room up! No one is allowed to enter from now on!”
“Yes, sir,” the servant quickly replied.
Mu Jinhang turned to leave; he couldn’t believe that Qin Xi would truly be willing to let go.
Hmph, that woman is the most shameless; she will definitely appear before him again.
First, Qin Xi did not show up.
Second, Qin Xi did not show up.
Third, Qin Xi still did not show up.
Mu Jinhang's mood inexplicably began to grow restless. He felt as if something was missing around him. Even though Qin Zhiruo was gentle and considerate, she could not soothe his agitated heart.
He suspected that Qin Xi was playing hard to get.

A month passed, and Qin Xi still had not appeared before Mu Jinhang. Not a single phone call or text message; it was as if she wanted to completely withdraw from his life.
Mu Jinhang's expression grew darker and darker. The entire Mu Group could sense his terrifying mood, leading everyone to work harder than ever, fearing that one misstep would provoke Mu Jinhang and get them kicked out of the Mu Group.
That morning, Mu Jinhang visited the hospital to see Qin Zhiruo.
Qin Zhiruo had almost fully recovered and sweetly offered to peel an apple for him.
"Ah!" she suddenly exclaimed as the fruit knife fell to the floor.
Mu Jinhang immediately grasped her fingers. "Did you hurt yourself?"
"I'm fine, just a little scrape, no bleeding," Qin Zhiruo replied softly.
A hint of disappointment flickered in Mu Jinhang's eyes.
No bleeding meant he had no excuse to call Qin Xi.
Suddenly feeling restless, Mu Jinhang stood up. "I'm going out for a smoke."
Without waiting for Qin Zhiruo to speak, he turned and walked away coldly.
Qin Zhiruo stared blankly at his retreating figure, tossing the half-eaten apple into the trash can, a deep sense of unexpressed resentment in her eyes.
In the hospital corridor, Mu Jinhang had just exited a patient room when he suddenly spotted a familiar figure ahead.
“Qin Xi!” He rushed forward and grabbed her shoulder.
“Ah!” Qin Xi was forced to turn around.
A hint of barely noticeable joy flashed in Mu Jinhang's eyes.
However, Qin Xi's expression changed drastically as she quickly hid a medical report behind her back.
Her movement was too obvious, and Mu Jinhang narrowed his eyes, snatching the report from her.
“You're pregnant!” He fixed his gaze on Qin Xi, a complex mix of emotions swirling in his eyes.
