Chapter 1: A Chance Encounter at the Flower Shop
In the Mu Group's presidential office, a secretary hurriedly entered with a stack of documents. Before she could even begin her report, she noticed Mu Jinhang rushing out, his demeanor a stark contrast to his usual calm and composed self.
She quickly approached him, "Mr. Mu, here are the materials needed for the board meeting later..."
"The meeting is postponed!"
"But..." The secretary's words were cut short as Mu Jinhang's figure vanished through the door.
Panicking, she realized that this annual board meeting was the most significant event for Mu Group, even attended by Mu Laoyezai. What could possibly have caused Mr. Mu to delay such an important meeting?
At that moment, a multi-million dollar Lamborghini sped out of the Mu Group garage, running through several red lights before finally coming to a stop in front of a flower shop.
Mu Jinhang had never felt so anxious before. As he stepped into the flower shop, the scene before him made his eyes redden with emotion.
"Where did you take Ning Bao just now? I thought you both were lost."
"Silly, how could we get lost? It's you who always makes me worry. You're so beautiful; what if someone else takes you away?" The man gently pinched the young woman's nose, his gesture revealing a hint of affection.
"You’re being ridiculous." The young woman playfully shot him a glare.
A little boy, looking about four or five years old, chimed in with a sweet voice, "Mommy, don’t worry! Daddy just took me to see the dolphins!"
He pointed to the newly opened aquarium across from the flower shop, where a huge promotional poster hung, attracting quite a few onlookers.
The woman smiled and asked, “Ning Bao, do you want to go see it? How about we check out the aquarium later?”
“Sure!” The boy clapped his hands in delight, while the man watched them with gentle eyes, creating a warm family atmosphere.
Suddenly, a chilling voice shattered this warmth: “Qin Xi, so you really are with Ji Li!”
The woman's expression changed abruptly as she looked up, their eyes locking in a moment that felt as if time itself had stopped.
Indeed, she was Qin Xi, who had vanished during the earthquake five years ago.
Mu Jinhang could hardly believe that the woman he had searched for so desperately over the past five years was now with another man and had even had a child!
What did all his pain, searching, and waiting over these five years amount to?
In an instant, Mu Jinhang felt as if he had been played by Qin Xi; all his surprise was consumed by anger, and an icy suffocation enveloped him.
“Come with me!” Mu Jinhang rushed forward and tightly grasped Qin Xi's wrist.
“What are you doing? Let go! I don’t even know you!”
“Don’t know me? You’ve been with Ji Li for five years and forgotten your ex-boyfriend? Forgotten how you clung to him before?” The anger and jealousy surged within Mu Jinhang, causing him to speak without thinking. Each word made Qin Xi’s face grow even paler.
“Mu Jinhang, shut up!” Ji Li suddenly punched Mu Jinhang in the face. “What right do you have to say these things to her?”
"Whether you have the qualifications is none of your business!" Mu Jinhang's fist struck Ji Li's face with a chilling intensity in his dark eyes.
The two quickly engaged in a fierce fight, exchanging blows without mercy, each punch filled with violence, as if they were determined to beat each other to death.
Before long, Ji Li found himself at a disadvantage, his collar firmly grasped by Mu Jinhang.
"Stop!" Just as Mu Jinhang's tense fist was about to smash into Ji Li's face, Qin Xi rushed forward and positioned herself in front of him.
"Bang!" The fierce punch barely missed her ear, crashing into the flower stand behind her.
Mu Jinhang fixed his gaze on Qin Xi, who stood protectively in front of Ji Li. "Are you really willing to risk your life for Ji Li?"
As soon as the words left his mouth, Ji Li kicked Mu Jinhang in the abdomen. Taking advantage of his momentary surprise, he quickly picked up Ning Bao and pulled Qin Xi along as they made their escape.
By the time Mu Jinhang chased after them, all he could see was the Black BMW speeding away.
"Qin Xi, you can't escape!" Mu Jinhang clutched his abdomen in pain, his dark eyes swirling with turmoil.
