Chapter 17: Impossible to Let Go
Despite Qin Xi jumping from the second floor, her forehead struck a stone, leaving her dizzy and disoriented.
“Qin Xi!” Mu Jinhang rushed over, seeing her forehead bleeding profusely. The crimson blood contrasted sharply with her pale face, creating a shocking sight.
He picked up Qin Xi and shouted at the servant, “Get Zhao!”
Zhao was Mu Jinhang's personal doctor.
The servant replied in a panic, “Don’t you remember? Zhao took leave to go back home yesterday.”
Soon, Qin Xi was taken to the hospital.
Qin Zhiruo received the news from a servant of the Mu family and hurried to the hospital. She found Mu Jinhang anxiously waiting by Qin Xi's side while the doctor was stitching her forehead.
“Doctor, how is my sister? Is the wound serious? Will it leave a scar?” Qin Zhiruo appeared genuinely concerned for Qin Xi, her delicate face showing just the right amount of worry.
The doctor replied, “A scar is definitely inevitable.”
“What should we do then?”
“The presence of a scar has nothing to do with you.” Qin Xi suddenly opened her eyes, not believing that Qin Zhiruo truly cared for her.
Qin Zhiruo glanced at Mu Jinhang and said pitifully, “Sister, I’m worried about you…”
“No need for that. Please leave.” Seeing Qin Zhiruo only made Qin Xi's headache worse.
Qin Zhiruo wanted to say something else but was met with Mu Jinhang's cold glare. “Leave!”
Reluctantly, Qin Zhiruo walked out but didn’t go far; she waited in the hallway.
Mu Jinhang watched the needle and thread pierce through the flesh on Qin Xi's forehead, feeling a mix of regret and heartache. He couldn't help but murmur softly, "Even if you scar, you will still look beautiful."
Qin Xi turned her head away and closed her eyes, clearly unwilling to acknowledge him.
Mu Jinhang pressed his lips together, a flicker of pain crossing his gaze.
Qin Xi had a bruise on her forehead and a mild concussion, requiring her to stay in the hospital for observation.
Mu Jinhang arranged for her to be placed in a private luxury room and even specially assigned over ten bodyguards to stand guard at the door, making it quite difficult for Qin Xi to escape if she wanted to.
"Mu Jinhang, why don't you go rest? I can take care of my sister," Qin Zhiruo appeared in the room again.
"No need."
"But you still have company matters to deal with. I want to help share the burden. Besides, it's only right for me as her sister to look after her since she's injured."
Mu Jinhang glared at her coldly. "Do you not understand human language? If you don’t understand, get out!"
"Mu Jinhang, why have you changed like this..." Tears welled up in Qin Zhiruo's eyes as she covered her mouth and sobbed softly, looking pitiful.
However, Mu Jinhang was entirely focused on Qin Xi and showed no signs of sympathy. He simply instructed the bodyguards to "escort" Qin Zhiruo out.
The room fell silent once more.
Qin Xi was worried about Ji Li and Ning Bao; since she hadn’t returned home tonight, they must be very concerned.
"I need to make a phone call," Qin Xi said.
Her cold demeanor once again provoked Mu Jinhang. "Don't even think about having Ji Li come to rescue you!"
“I just want to make a phone call!”
“No way!”
“Why not? Mu Jinhang, don’t be unreasonable! You’ve kept me under house arrest and won’t even let me make a call. What do you want from me?”
Mu Jinhang didn’t want anything; he just wanted to keep Qin Xi by his side. To do that, he had to cut off all her ties with Ji Li and that child, ensuring that Qin Xi would completely abandon any thoughts of them.
He believed that with time, Qin Xi would forget. Eventually, he and Qin Xi would have their own child.
Seeing his cold demeanor, Qin Xi finally couldn’t hold back her plea. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have provoked you or entangled myself with you. Can you please let me go? I’m begging you!”
Slap!
Mu Jinhang suddenly grabbed her wrist tightly, speaking each word with intensity. “You want me to let go? Only if I’m dead!”
Qin Xi’s face turned pale in an instant.
