Chapter 44: A Deep Love
The Qin Family has gone bankrupt.
Ever since the Qin Family and the Mu Family called off their engagement, the Mu Family no longer supported the Qin Family in business and ceased all cooperation.
The Qin Family's fortunes plummeted, and they finally announced their bankruptcy yesterday.
When Qin Xi saw this news in the newspaper, she felt little emotion; she simply didn’t expect Chairman Qin to suddenly come knocking at her door.
“Let him go back,” Qin Xi said to the butler, her head bent as she sifted through wedding dress designs.
She was about to marry Mu Jinhang.
The wedding dress was being designed by the renowned designer Jessica, and there were five sketches in total. Qin Xi needed to finalize her choice quickly; otherwise, she feared there wouldn’t be enough time.
After the butler left, he returned shortly with a troubled expression. “Mr. Qin refuses to leave and insists on seeing you. You are his daughter; you can’t disregard him as a father.”
“Now he remembers me as his daughter,” Qin Xi said with a hint of irony and bitterness. “Fine, let him in.”
When Chairman Qin entered, Qin Xi almost didn’t recognize him.
The once charismatic chairman seemed to have aged over ten years overnight; his hair was graying at the temples, and his face looked haggard, resembling a man in his sixties.
As soon as he stepped inside, he said, “Xi, I’m sorry for what I did. Can you forgive me?”
“I’m not your daughter; we severed our father-daughter relationship long ago,” Qin Xi replied coolly.
“That was just said in anger; how could it be taken seriously?” Chairman Qin appeared genuinely remorseful. “Xi, you have the blood of the Qin Family running through your veins; that makes you part of the Qin Family. Now that Dad’s company is in trouble, can you speak to Mu Jinhang for me? Maybe he can help.”
Qin Xi raised her head and looked at him calmly. “I gave my blood to save Qin Zhiruo five years ago. Isn’t she your only daughter in your eyes? Let her help your company; I am powerless to do anything.”
Seeing her cold demeanor, Chairman Qin couldn’t contain his anger any longer. “How can you be so ungrateful! I gave you life, and not only do you fail to show gratitude, but you also caused your sister to end up in prison! Now that the family business is in trouble, you refuse to help…”
His anger escalated, and he picked up a cup from the table and hurled it at Qin Xi.
The butler was taken aback.
Fortunately, Qin Xi reacted quickly and avoided being hit, while Chairman Qin was knocked to the ground by a kick from Mu Jinhang, who had just returned.
"Throw him out! The Qin Family is not allowed to come here anymore!" Mu Jinhang ordered sternly.
The bodyguards immediately seized Chairman Qin and dragged him away.
Qin Xi felt a lingering fear.
Mu Jinhang held her close. "Are you okay?"
Qin Xi gently shook her head, feeling self-deprecating. "I shouldn’t have let him in. I still hoped he genuinely wanted to acknowledge me as his daughter, but I was wrong. He only wanted me to say a few good words in front of you so that the Mu Family could help save his company."
Mu Jinhang scoffed. "The Qin Family is bankrupt; there's nothing to save."
Thinking of Chairman Qin's disheveled appearance, Qin Xi knew that life would not be easy for him and Qin Madam from now on, especially with Qin Zhiruo in prison, unable to help them.
Noticing her gloominess, Mu Jinhang softly reassured her, "From now on, you are part of the Mu Family. Whatever happens to the Qin Family has nothing to do with you; you don’t need to worry about it."
Qin Xi felt warmth in her heart and nestled against his chest.

Their wedding date was set for early October.
Considering Mu Laoyezai's old age and the need to avoid exhausting travel, Mu Jinhang and Qin Xi decided to hold their wedding on Seaside Island, which was local.
The sea was a brilliant blue, and seagulls soared above.
The entire island had been booked by Mu Jinhang, enveloped in a romantic and festive atmosphere. White roses, blue roses, and red roses filled the area with their intoxicating fragrance, and guests had already gathered on the lawn where the ceremony would take place.
As the wedding march began to play, Qin Xi walked out slowly holding Zhang Shu's hand, entering the sight of the crowd. Meanwhile, Ning Bao was dressed as a flower girl, joyfully scattering petals over her.
The wedding dress was custom-made by skilled artisans specifically invited by Mu Jinhang. It featured a unique off-the-shoulder A-line design that revealed her delicate shoulders. The skirt was adorned with numerous tiny sparkling pearls, and the thin veil was intricately embroidered with flowers, creating a beautiful and elegant appearance.
As she slowly walked towards Mu Jinhang, the usually composed man felt a bead of sweat form in his palm.
He was nervous.
During the ring exchange, he almost put the ring on the wrong finger, causing a burst of laughter from the crowd, and even Qin Xi couldn't help but smile.
Mu Jinhang lifted her veil and leaned down to kiss her.
This was the first time he kissed her with such tenderness and affection.
Tears shimmered in Qin Xi's eyes as he gently kissed them closed, his solemn vow ringing in her ears.
"I love you, for a lifetime."
"I do too."
Seven years ago, they met in a heavy rain.
It was love at first sight, a deep and abiding love.
