Returning from the new home, Su Mingxian had no idea how long it took to coax the little girl into a good mood. It was truly exhausting. She couldn't understand why her daughter, who had hardly seen Shen Chi a few times, relied on him so much.
Could this be the nature of blood ties?
Since they got back home, the little one had been waiting by the door, almost turning into a guardian spirit.
“Daddy, Daddy, you really came back!”
When Shen Chi Yi arrived home, Qian Qian rushed over with such enthusiasm that it nearly melted his heart. “Daddy promised you, so of course I will keep my word.”
The little girl happily shrank her neck and whispered in his ear, “Daddy, we went to the new house today. Mommy agreed to keep a room for you. Are you happy?”
Shen Chi Yi was taken aback and unconsciously glanced at Su Mingxian. Was his daughter really using this to persuade him to move in?
However, facing the sincerity in his daughter's eyes, he found it hard to refuse. He pinched her cheek and nodded, “Mm.”
Qian Qian burst into delighted giggles at his response, while Su Mingxian looked up with a helpless expression and said, “Qian Qian, don’t always cling to Daddy. Have you finished your homework?”
“I’m almost done.” The little girl stuck out her tongue and ran over to write a couple of lines before exclaiming loudly, “I’ve finished! Mommy, look!”
She presented her work like a treasure. If it weren't for waiting for Daddy, she would have completed it much earlier.
“Homework?” Shen Chi Yi looked at Su Mingxian with confusion. “What kind of homework can she have at such a young age?”
“She’s about to start first grade, and I’m helping her transition; otherwise, she won’t keep up,” she said while checking the homework. Seeing that it was indeed finished, she nodded and said, “Well, Qian Qian did great today. Since you’ve finished your homework, it’s time to go to bed early.”
Naturally, Qian Qian was reluctant; she still wanted her dad to tell her a story. However, under her mother’s stern gaze, she could only nod glumly.

Shen Chi took a cold shower in the bathroom. When he came out, both children were already asleep, but his daughter-in-law was still sitting at the table reading.
“What’s this?”
Su Mingxian didn’t look up and replied directly, “Oh, high school textbooks. I found them at Wen Miao Book Market today.”
“High school textbooks?” Shen Chi walked over and flipped through a couple of pages. “What do you need these for?”
Only then did Su Mingxian lift her head and smile. “I want to review well for the college entrance exam.”
“College entrance exam?” Shen Chi looked at her in surprise.
“Yeah.” Su Mingxian nodded calmly. After a pause, she added, “Thank you for today, but there’s no need for that in the future. I can handle it.”
Hearing this, Shen Chi’s expression darkened instantly. “I’m your husband; it’s my duty to protect you.”
Su Mingxian fell silent for a moment before standing up with a serious expression. “That won’t be the case for long. I need to face the storms on my own. The new house is bought, and we should be able to transfer the household registration by August. At that time, let’s also take care of the divorce.”
As soon as the words left her lips, she was suddenly pressed against the wall, a pleasant scent of soap wafting from the man before her.
Su Mingxian's eyes widened in shock, her heart racing. "Shen Chi, what are you doing?"
Shen Chi lowered his head, the tips of his hair still damp, his dark eyes glimmering as he leaned closer, his voice hoarse as he whispered in her ear, "What do you think?"
Before she could respond, he captured her lips in a kiss.
Startled, Su Mingxian quickly turned to the side. "Shen Chi, don’t do this."
As she moved away, the kiss landed in her hair, the fresh and subtle fragrance lingering in her nostrils. Shen Chi couldn't help but swallow hard, gazing at her with an increasingly deep voice. "What's wrong?"
He leaned in again to kiss her, and Su Mingxian instinctively raised her hands to push him away. However, before she knew it, a strong arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her into Shen Chi's embrace.
Feeling his warm chest and the heavy thump of his heartbeat, Su Mingxian's face flushed crimson. Gritting her teeth, she said, "Shen Chi, you promised to divorce me."
