Su Xiaoshuang's parents had long passed away, leaving her with only one brother named Su Yong.
Strangely, after receiving the news of his sister's death from Zhang Mingda while living in Bangkok, Su Yong did not show up for a long time, as if her death had not stirred much emotion within him.
It was not until the second day after the incident that Su Yong finally arrived, accompanied by a scruffy-looking man.
The three of them slowly sat down around the coffee table. Su Yong gestured to introduce the man with him, who was named Guo Yi.
He explained that his sister, Su Xiaoshuang, had previously called him, specifically instructing him to find a security guard who was proficient in Chinese and could speak Thai fluently, and who must be honest and reliable.
Guo Yi lived in northern Thailand, and when Zhang Mingda informed Su Yong of Su Xiaoshuang's death yesterday, he was on his way back to Bangkok with Guo Yi, which was why they arrived today.
Su Yong also mentioned that the the Guo Family and the the Su Family had been family friends for generations, assuring that Guo Yi was absolutely trustworthy.
Upon hearing Su Yong's introduction, Zhang Mingda couldn't help but scrutinize Guo Yi a bit more closely.
Guo Yi appeared to be in his early forties, with long hair and a few strands of stubble shaped like a catfish on his chin. He wore a tight black T-shirt that accentuated his muscular build, as if his muscles could burst through the fabric at any moment, paired with a pair of faded jeans.
However, what left the deepest impression on Zhang Mingda was not Guo Yi's impressive physique but rather his eyes. They had very little white visible; the pupils were exceptionally large, making it seem at first glance as if his entire eyes were a deep shade of black.
Zhang Mingda found himself unable to maintain eye contact with Guo Yi for long; every time their gazes met, his heart would involuntarily flutter slightly.
"Are you... also of Thai-Chinese descent?" Zhang Mingda quickly shifted his gaze away from Guo Yi's face to the coffee table in front of him, nervously asking.
Guo Yi remained silent, merely nodding slightly.
At that moment, Su Yong spoke up, "Guo Yi has a connection with my sister. Even if it weren't for Manager Zhang's company needing security, my sister still intended to hire Guo Yi as her personal bodyguard."
"Oh?! Why have I never heard of this?" Zhang Mingda exclaimed, his face filled with surprise. Su Xiaoshuang had never mentioned wanting to find a personal bodyguard.
"My schedule has always been confidential," Guo Yi finally spoke, his voice hoarse and deep, as if it were emanating from the depths of the world's darkest abyss, carrying an unsettling pull that seemed to draw everything around into an endless vortex of darkness.
"Confidential? Is there still a need for secrecy now?" Zhang Mingda asked, struggling to steady his emotions, confusion etched on his face.
"Given that Su Xiaoshuang has passed away, this secret no longer needs to be concealed."
Guo Yi fixed his deep, pitch-black eyes on Zhang Mingda, his gaze seeming to penetrate into his very soul.
A chill suddenly rose from the depths of Zhang Mingda's heart, causing him to involuntarily shudder.
"What exactly was Su Xiaoshuang hiding?" Zhang Mingda pressed on.
"Skin," Guo Yi uttered that single word before falling silent again.
In Thai, "skin" means "ghost."
Upon hearing this, Zhang Mingda felt a wave of dread wash over him; he slumped back into the depths of the sofa, murmuring to himself, "Su Xiaoshuang never believed in ghosts."
Su Yong shook his head helplessly and said, "Ever since my sister moved to this building with Manager Zhang's company, she has been sleeping poorly. She once told me that as soon as she steps into this building, she gets goosebumps all over and feels like there's a shadow following her. Moreover, just a few days ago, she told me she saw a ghost in the office. So, on my suggestion, we planned to ask Guo Yi for help. But now, it seems everything is too late..."
The three fell silent for a moment. Zhang Mingda deliberately avoided Guo Yi's gaze and asked, "So, would Mr. Guo be willing to work as a security guard for our company?"
Guo Yi nodded slightly.
Zhang Mingda immediately responded politely, "Then we will trouble Mr. Guo."
In truth, Zhang Mingda was well aware that Guo Yi's intentions were not purely for the job; he was here to investigate Su Xiaoshuang's mysterious death.
After pondering for a moment, Zhang Mingda felt it was better to be honest and said directly, "If Mr. Guo comes to our company as a security guard, it would be a waste of your talents. I believe if you are here to investigate Su Xiaoshuang's cause of death, I will fully support you. However, the police have already determined that Su Xiaoshuang committed suicide; the door was locked from the inside, and no one else was found in the room. The Thai Police have ruled this as a suicide case."
"Do you believe this conclusion?" Guo Yi pressed.
"Su Xiaoshuang had a strong character; that's one of the reasons I valued her. I find it hard to believe that she would choose to end her life so easily."
"If it wasn't suicide, then who could the murderer be?" Su Yong could no longer contain his anger, clenching his fists and gritting his teeth as he said, "If I find out who the murderer is, I will not let them go; I will make sure they pay with their life."
Zhang Mingda was startled by Su Yong's sudden outburst of anger, while Guo Yi remained calm and said, "Let's go take a look at Su Xiaoshuang's office." Zhang Mingda couldn't help but admire Guo Yi's composure and thought to himself that this person was indeed extraordinary.
