After I finished speaking, Jiang Yu fell silent. He stared at me for a long time before releasing his grip and turning to leave. I looked at my reflection in the mirror; my face was pale, and my eyes lacked their usual brightness. I closed my eyes and let out a deep sigh. 0

After exiting the restroom, I walked to the door of the private room and paused. I didn’t want to go in. I found a corner to sit down, feeling dizzy from having drunk too much. I rested my head on the table and dozed off. 0

A gentle breeze wafted through the window, pulling me back into memories of the past. In my dream, I held Jiang Yu's hand and asked him, “Jiang Yu, what will we do if we break up in the future?” 0

Jiang Yu ruffled my hair and smiled, “Silly, we won’t break up.” 0

“We’ll only get better.” 0

I pouted, “But what if I need a lot of money?” 0

Jiang Yu looked at me seriously and promised, “Xiao Mei, we will have money in the future.” 0

“I will work hard to earn money so you can live well.” 0

“I’ll buy you delicious food every day and pretty clothes.” 0

I couldn’t help but smile, “Okay.” 0

“Jiang Yu, you’re so nice.” 0

Little did I know, I wouldn’t get to hear Jiang Yu’s words come true. Trouble struck at home. 0

My father loved to gamble and ended up in deep debt, with creditors knocking at our door. I was bullied by those people. My father was driven to jump from a building, and they fled the scene. My mother held me, covered in blood, crying uncontrollably. 0

Just then, Wang Ting came to our house and called the police. Those people were arrested and sentenced to several years in prison. Wang Ting took my mother and me away from that nightmare and brought us to Fengcheng. 0

I curled up in a corner of the hospital, looking disheveled. The doctor looked gravely at Wang Ting and my mother, saying, "Su Mei's right hand is injured too severely; she may never... and her other injuries are quite serious as well..." 0

"You need to prepare for a long-term situation." 0

My mother stood frozen, tears streaming down her face. Wang Ting quickly supported her, saying, "Auntie, please don't be upset. Su Mei..." 0

Before Wang Ting could finish, my phone suddenly rang. It was Jiang Yu calling. 0

I stared blankly at the screen, hesitating to answer. The doctor's words echoed in my ears. I closed my eyes as tears slipped down my cheeks. The phone continued to ring, an endless sound. 0

Taking a deep breath, I answered the call. Jiang Yu's cheerful voice came through: "Xiao Mei, I have good news for you." 0

"I got the chance to study abroad." 0

"When I graduate, we will get married." 0

"Xiao Mei, are you happy?" 0

Listening to Jiang Yu's voice made me want to cry all of a sudden. Jiang Yu, of course I am happy. 0

But we are already impossible. 0
I looked at my hands, at the mottled scars on my body. 0
Jiang Yu, I can no longer find my way back. 0
I stood up and walked to the window, watching the pouring rain outside, and softly said, "Jiang Yu, let's break up." 0
I woke up from the dream. 0
Confused, I looked around and realized I was in Jiang Yu's house. 0
The sunset poured through the window onto the balcony, and Jiang Yu sat on the sofa, his face still as proud as ever. 0
Seeing that I was awake, Jiang Yu slowly walked over. 0
He leaned slightly closer and asked, "You're awake. How do you feel now?" 0
"Shouldn't we rest a bit more?" 0
I didn’t respond; instead, I sat up and searched for my phone and clothes in the room but found nothing. 0
Jiang Yu let me look around without stopping me. 0
Standing barefoot on the floor, I looked at him and asked, "Jiang Yu, what do you really want?" 0
Jiang Yu gazed at me and said, "What I want, you should know." 0
"Xiao Mei, I've missed you." 0
He sat in the sunlight, his gaze direct and fervent as it locked onto mine without any disguise. 0
A shiver ran through me, an inexplicable shame surged within my heart. 0
I looked at him and trembled as I said, "Jiang Yu, I have someone I like now." 0
"Please stop entangling me." 0
Jiang Yu looked at me and suddenly smiled. 0
He cupped my face in his hands and leaned down closer to me. 0
His lips were almost touching mine. 0
I wanted to pull away but found no way to escape. 0

He stared into my eyes, a cold smile on his lips. "Su Mei, you are lying." 0
