I held Vito tightly, feeling his body grow colder and his breaths becoming fainter.
A wave of heart-wrenching pain washed over me. Were we really going to die here?
No, I couldn't give up. Even if there was only a glimmer of hope, I had to seize it!
I lifted my head and desperately searched my surroundings.
Suddenly, I spotted an abandoned church not far away, its eerie silhouette illuminated by the moonlight.
"Vito, let's go over there!" I pointed towards the church and said to him.
Vito weakly nodded.
I supported him as we stumbled towards the church.
The large doors of the church stood open, revealing a pitch-black interior filled with the stench of decay.
I helped Vito inside and laid him down on the ground.
"Vito, hold on. I'll find a way to save you," I said, looking at his pale face with a heavy heart.
Vito's injuries worsened, and he instinctively let out a low, painful growl.
As I inadvertently touched him, a powerful force surged into my body, and I felt a strange connection forming between Vito and me.
My body began to change; I could sense everything around me, even hear the heartbeat of a werewolf.
I realized that I had gained the ability to perceive werewolves.
At that moment, a woman appeared at the entrance of the church. She wore a long black robe, her sharp gaze radiating a powerful aura.
"Who are you?" I asked warily.
"I am Mira, the seer of the Moonshadow Wolf Clan," she replied.
Mira approached Vito and examined his wounds.
"His injuries are severe; he needs treatment immediately," Mira said.
"Please, save him!" I pleaded earnestly.
Mira nodded and began to treat Vito.
She pulled a vial of potion from her pocket and poured it onto Vito's wound.
Vito's injury began to heal slowly.
"What is your ability?" Mira asked me.
"I don't know; I just discovered it," I replied honestly.
Mira looked at me, a glimmer of surprise in her eyes.
"Your body carries the ancient bloodline of Poland. Your ancestors were once a family that guarded the secrets of the Werewolf World," Mira explained.
"What secrets?" I asked curiously.
Mira did not answer but instead glanced toward the church entrance.
Several figures appeared at the door; they were all werewolves, radiating hostility.
"The Night Wolf Clan has arrived," Mira said.
"What do they want?" I inquired.
"They are here for you," Mira replied.
For me?
I was filled with confusion.
How could an ordinary janitor like me become the target of werewolf contention?
Victor and Scott entered with several warriors from the Night Wolf Clan, their eyes locked onto me.
"Marina, you are indeed here," Victor said.
"Who are you? Why do you want to capture me?" I demanded.
"You possess the ability to sense werewolves, which makes you a significant threat to us," Victor answered.
"I won't go with you!" I declared firmly.
At that critical moment, Vito transformed and stood in front of me. He let out a deafening roar and charged at the warriors of the Night Wolf Clan.
A fierce battle unfolded within the church.
Although Vito's injuries had not yet healed, he still displayed immense strength.
As I fought, I gradually adapted to my abilities, using my perception to guide Vito and help him evade attacks.
Vito seized the opportunity and struck Victor with a powerful claw.
Victor let out a scream and collapsed to the ground.
Seeing this, Scott quickly led the other warriors in retreat.
The Night Wolf Clan members were driven away.
I let out a sigh of relief.
"Vito, are you okay?" I asked with concern.
Vito shook his head and transformed back into his human form.
"I'm fine, thanks to you," Vito said, looking at me.
I smiled, feeling a warmth in my heart.
Suddenly, the roof of the church collapsed.
We were buried beneath the rubble.
