Soon, the vast parking lot of the Z District Military Base was left with only Jiang Ming.
The sun, just risen at around six or seven in the morning, had not yet warmed the air, and a cool breeze swept past him, lifting the grass leaves from the ground. They danced lightly in a swirl before slowly settling back down.
Feeling utterly alone, Jiang Ming glanced around, watching three people turn away from him without a word and walk off in different directions. His heart was filled with loneliness and disappointment, as if he had been cast aside by the world.
Was he being isolated?
"I knew helping that brat Klick would lead to no good," Jiang Ming silently grumbled to himself before hastily chasing after Yan Qing, who was walking away.
"Hey, after you upload these documents, do you have any dishes in mind for dinner? I've recently learned a few new Cantonese recipes. Would you like to try them?"
There was a hint of expectation and eagerness in Jiang Ming's voice.
Yan Qing politely but distantly shook her head, her eyes revealing no emotion.
"No thanks, I'm a bit tired and want to go home for a nap."
As Yan Qing leaped past him, Jiang Ming felt a sudden pang in his heart, as if something precious had gently floated away.
He stood there, watching Yan Qing's retreating figure, filled with helplessness and disappointment.
He didn’t know what he could do to make Yan Qing stop avoiding him.
Jiang Ming closely followed behind Yan Qing, his eyes fixed on her as she methodically uploaded the image files step by step.
Yan Qing moved with practiced ease and focus; her slender fingers danced across the keyboard as if playing a beautiful melody. A wave of inexplicable admiration surged within Jiang Ming as he silently marveled at Yan Qing's professionalism and dedication.
After uploading the video materials, Yan Qing submitted his A-level exam files and everyone else's information in the office. His gaze was focused and determined, as if he were completing a sacred mission.
Jiang Ming sat quietly across from him, watching his busy figure, filled with anticipation and unease.
He didn't know what Yan Qing would say to him, nor did he understand where their relationship was headed.
Finally, Yan Qing shut down his computer and looked up at Jiang Ming. There was a hint of fatigue and confusion in his eyes, as if he were pondering something important.
Jiang Ming, feeling a bit lost, gently shook his phone and pointed to the app's ordering interface. "Let's go home together. I just ordered takeout; we can eat a bit before sleeping. It's not good for your health to skip meals all night. Is there anything you particularly like? I can add a few more dishes."
Yan Qing slightly furrowed his brows; he hadn't expected Jiang Ming to still be waiting for him.
It had already been three or four hours since he arrived here. After a long night of travel, he hadn’t gone back to rest and was sitting here without knowing why. Did he still want to find out more information?
With a hint of caution, Yan Qing casually selected a few dishes.
Hearing Yan Qing respond, Jiang Ming seemed delighted, breaking into a smile as he added those dishes to his order.
His eyes sparkled with anticipation and joy, like a child receiving a cherished gift.
Seeing his expression, a complex emotion surged within Yan Qing.
