Gu Han suddenly grabbed my shoulder with such force that it caused me pain.
“Lin Weiwei, do you even know what you’re saying? Divorce? You’re actually willing to leave me for someone named Cheng?”
His voice was hoarse, filled with disbelief and anger.
I didn’t look at him; I simply turned my head and spoke to Cheng Mu in a detached tone. “Cheng Mu, take me to have the surgery.”
A flicker of complex emotions crossed Cheng Mu’s eyes as he glanced between me and Gu Han before finally nodding.
“Alright, Weiwei, I’ll arrange it right away.”
“Surgery? What surgery?!” Gu Han completely lost control of his emotions. He grabbed my hand and shouted, “Lin Weiwei, how dare you! The child in your belly is mine!”
“Your child?” I scoffed, my gaze icy as I looked at him. “Gu Han, ask yourself honestly—do you really care about this child? Have you ever cared about me?”
Gu Han was taken aback. He opened his mouth as if to say something but ultimately fell silent.
“Since you don’t care, then I have no reason to keep this child,” I said, forcefully shaking off Gu Han’s hand.
“Lin Weiwei!” Gu Han yelled, trying to chase after me, but Cheng Mu stepped in his way.
“Mr. Gu, please calm down,” Cheng Mu said in a calm yet firm tone. “Weiwei needs to rest now; please do not disturb her any further.”
Gu Han glared at Cheng Mu with a fury that seemed capable of devouring him whole. Yet, in the end, he said nothing more, his fists clenched tightly as he allowed me and Cheng Mu to leave the hospital room.
Cheng Mu helped me onto the bed, his eyes red-rimmed. "Weiwei, you have to have the surgery immediately... If you delay any longer, you really will die!"
I shook my head, gripping the blanket tightly. "I can't give up on the baby..."
But no sooner had I spoken than my phone began to vibrate violently.
Bank notifications flooded in—every account frozen, even the deposit I had paid to the hospital was forcibly returned.
I stared blankly at the screen, trembling all over.
Gu Han had truly become this ruthless.
That afternoon, social media exploded.
Under the trending topic "Gu Family Young Mistress Infidelity During Pregnancy," there were countless paparazzi photos of me and Cheng Mu.
There were cleverly angled embraces, edited kissing pictures, and even a forged pregnancy test report—showing that the baby's blood type did not match Gu Han's.
When a nurse entered with medication, she hesitated. "Ms. Lin... here's the painkiller you requested..."
Curled up in the corner of the bed, I watched as the needle pierced my bruised vein, suddenly hearing a harsh laugh from outside the door.
"Deserved it! Stealing someone else's man and still pretending to be sick, does she really think General Gu is a fool?"
"I heard her father was blocked by creditors this morning; the Lin family is going bankrupt..."
I suddenly coughed up a mouthful of blood, staining the pristine white sheets.
This time it wasn't an act.
When Cheng Mu burst in, I was staring blankly at the blood-soaked handkerchief in my grasp.
"Where's the blood pack?" he frantically searched the bedside table.
I forced a bitter smile, "This time it's real."
His hand trembled, and the glass vial shattered into pieces.
In the dead of night, the emergency lights flickered above me. I heard Cheng Mu on the phone, his voice choked with emotion: "Yes, we need RH negative blood... The patient is experiencing severe uterine hemorrhage, and the cancer cells have already..."
Before my consciousness faded, I clutched his white coat tightly and mumbled a few words.
