She released her son's face and turned to face Sang Yu, saying, "What happened here? Why does my Rui Rui have black eyes?" Her tone was somewhat accusatory.
Sang Yu reassured her, "Qing Rui's Mom, please don't worry. Thankfully, the two children were pulled apart by other classmates in time. I've checked them both; they only have minor injuries and have been treated. You don't need to be too concerned. Nowadays, parents are different from when we were kids. Back then, parents would often say that if their child misbehaved, teachers could just discipline them as needed. The attitude was much more relaxed."
She continued, "But now it's the opposite. Parents are hesitant to say anything when their children make mistakes, fearing it might affect their child's psychology. They definitely won't allow any physical punishment; otherwise, they might complain about the teacher. So it's really tough for teachers these days."
Sang Yu then added, "The fight between the two kids was over something trivial, and they both understand their mistakes now. This is Xue Shushu, by the way."
He Qingrui's Mom had been focused on her own son and hadn't noticed anyone else until she saw Lu Jingzhi. Her eyes lit up; this man was truly striking! With a high nose bridge, charming peach blossom eyes, and a well-defined jawline—just look at those strong arms and long legs! She could hardly contain her admiration.
"Ah, so this is the parent of that student! Hello there! Oh, boys will be boys; fighting is inevitable. As long as the kids are fine, let's not be too harsh about it. After all, fighting can sometimes strengthen friendships," she chuckled.
Sang Yu raised an eyebrow at her sudden change in demeanor. Just moments ago she had been furious; now she was smiling. It seemed her attitude shifted rather quickly—she had been so fierce before.
Lu Jingzhi noticed Sang Yu's gaze and couldn't help but smile at how she was sneaking glances at him. He realized that Sang Yu had really changed; she used to be much more reserved.
Sang Yu pouted and looked away; no matter how handsome he was, he was still a scoundrel in her eyes.
Lu Jingzhi maintained a polite demeanor. After all, it was his nephew who had started the fight. "I apologize on behalf of my nephew for his actions," he said to the beautiful mother. "I will definitely teach him a lesson at home. If your child has any discomfort, please let us know—we'll take care of any expenses."
He Qingrui's Mom beamed at being called beautiful and even blushed slightly. "Oh dear handsome brother, you don't need to be so formal; just call me sister! Kids will fight; it's normal. Besides, my child is tough; a few hits won't hurt him. Look at your son—he has a bruise on his mouth too! We're even now!"
He Qingrui felt embarrassed watching his mother fawn over another man; every time she saw a handsome guy, he felt like he had to step back.
He Qingrui was filled with resentment towards his father for being so unhelpful while his mother remained infatuated with handsome men—what a shame for a man!
"Son! Thank you for looking out for me!" His dad exclaimed.
Both sets of parents were understanding, which made things easier in the end. The two children apologized to each other and acknowledged their mistakes.
"I'm sorry; I shouldn't have hit you," He Qingrui said.
"I'm sorry too; I shouldn't have hit you either," came the reply.
Finally, Sang Yu suggested that the two kids hug each other to make amends, and that settled everything.
Children have short memories; once they forgave each other, they quickly became friends again and walked hand in hand back to class.
"Goodbye, Teacher Sang!" they called out as they left.
He Qingrui's Mom turned back three times reluctantly as if she wanted to linger longer, causing Sang Yu's eyes to twitch slightly.
"Goodbye, Qing Rui's Mom," Sang Yu said as she watched her leave before turning back to Lu Jingzhi who was still standing there motionless. "Aren't you coming?"
Lu Jingzhi looked at Sang Yu and seemed to want to say something.
