On the Xi'an City Wall, someone might have sworn eternal love, but it would only be considered serious once they reached Dali. The sound of a phone ringing pulled Sang Yu back from her thoughts. 0

Sang Yu picked up her phone from the coffee table and saw that it was her best friend, Lin Yue, calling. Sliding her finger across the screen to answer, she barely had time to speak before Lin Yue shouted from the other end, "Little Sang Sang, I'm here!" 0

The loud voice from the speaker made Sang Yu grimace, quickly pulling the phone away from her ear. Her best friend had such a booming voice! To spare her ears any further punishment, Sang Yu switched to speaker mode and placed the phone on the sofa. "When did you arrive?" 0

"I'm here in the afternoon! I just got in and thought I’d call you tonight. Aren't we sisters?" 0

"Yes, yes, of course!" Sang Yu replied with a smile. Lin Yue was her only close friend, someone she had been through thick and thin with since high school; their bond was unbreakable. 0

"When are you going to treat me to a meal? You need to welcome me properly!" Lin Yue had been transferred from an overseas branch for a year and hadn't visited in between. 0

"Oh dear, let me check my schedule and see when I'm free. Hold on, let me take a look." 0

"Wow! You’re lucky! I actually have time this week in the evenings. How about we meet then?" Sang Yu listened as Lin Yue directed their plans over the phone. 0

Sang Yu chuckled; every time she was with Lin Yue, it was always full of joy. "Alright then, I’ll be waiting for your summons!" 0

In reality, Lin Yue had just returned from abroad and still had some company matters to attend to. 0

Before long, it was the day they had arranged to meet. Sang Yu had taken the day off work and rode her little electric scooter to their meeting spot early. By the time she arrived at the lobby, it was just past five-thirty. She found a seat by the window and began playing with her phone while waiting for Lin Yue. 0

Sang Yu: [I’m here at the lobby by the window.] 0

Lin Yue: [I’m on my way! Should be there in about ten minutes.] 0

Sang Yu: [No rush!] 0

Lin Yue: [Sending kisses!] 0

As soon as Lin Yue walked into the café, she spotted Sang Yu right away. Even though Sang Yu had her back turned to the entrance, their connection was so strong that Lin Yue could recognize her instantly despite not having seen each other for a year. 0

Lin Yue approached Sang Yu from behind and wrapped her arms around her neck. When Sang Yu turned around, she smiled brightly—who else could it be but Lin Yue? 0

"You scared me!" Sang Yu said softly, her voice laced with a hint of playfulness. 0

Anyone who knew Sang Yu would surely be surprised at this moment; although she usually spoke little and was gentle and quiet, she had never shown this playful side to anyone before. Even her parents rarely saw their eldest daughter act this way; typically, such antics were reserved for younger girls. 0

Wrapping her arms around Lin Yue in return, Lin Yue laughed joyfully. "You were so eager to hug me! Looks like my little Sang Sang really missed me." Just when there were tears in Sang Yu's eyes from nostalgia, Lin Yue's teasing made her laugh instead. 0
