"President Qin, this way please."
Qin Na glanced thoughtfully at Lu Jingzhi, then looked towards Sang Yu and nodded before following Zhao Yu into the private room.
Sang Yu was seated directly facing the entrance. When Lu Jingzhi walked in, she spotted him immediately. Her heart fluttered slightly when she noticed a beautiful woman beside him. Now that Lu Jingzhi was approaching her, she felt a bit flustered. Since the last time she had sneaked away from Lu Jingzhi, they hadn't seen each other.
Qi Yue observed Sang Yu's sudden change in demeanor with some confusion. Following her gaze, he saw a handsome man walking towards their table.
When Lu Jingzhi reached their table and stood still, Qi Yue recognized him. His eyebrows raised in surprise; wasn't this Lu Jingmo's younger brother? Although it had been a while since they last met, Qi Yue could still identify him from his familiar features, especially since he had a good relationship with his brother, Lu Jingmo.
Once Lu Jingzhi stood by the table, he turned to look at the man across from Sang Yu. The man smiled at him, and Lu Jingzhi was taken aback; he hadn't expected to recognize someone here.
"Brother?! When did you arrive?" Lu Jingzhi exclaimed. It had been quite some time since he had seen Qi Yue after he enlisted.
He held great respect for his brother's friend; there were few people he admired, and Qi Yue was one of them.
"It’s been a while, Jing Zhi. I've been here for several days," Qi Yue replied with a smile.
"Several days? You’ve retired?" Lu Jingzhi asked in surprise. He knew how much Qi Yue loved being in the military; he often visited his brother and heard him talk about wanting to enlist in the army.
"Yes, I retired a few days ago," Qi Yue said without elaborating further.
Lu Jingzhi sensed there was more to the story but tactfully chose not to pry further; after all, this wasn't the right occasion for such discussions.
"Do you know each other?" Qi Yue asked if Lu Jingzhi was acquainted with Sang Yu.
"Yes, she’s my ex-girlfriend," Lu Jingzhi replied.
Qi Yue nodded slightly, understanding why Sang Yu seemed uncomfortable with Lu Jingzhi's gaze; it made sense now. He himself had been somewhat coerced by his family to come today, so at least that mission was accomplished.
However, he hadn’t expected Sang Yu to have dated Lu Jingzhi. After all, she seemed like a well-behaved girl who wouldn’t typically associate with someone like him.
Sang Yu widened her eyes in disbelief. Ex-girlfriend? More like an ex-ex-ex-girlfriend—who knew how many exes he had before her?
Just when she thought she had found someone appealing, it turned out he was connected to Lu Jingzhi. It seemed this blind date was going nowhere.
"How did you two end up together?" Lu Jingzhi asked curiously.
Qi Yue first glanced at Sang Yu and then turned back to Lu Jingzhi with a smile. "Oh, we're on a blind date today."
"A blind date?" Lu Jingzhi's expression visibly darkened.
Qi Yue calmly nodded. "Yes."
Sang Yu felt a strange sense of guilt, unable to meet Lu Jingzhi's gaze, as if she had done something wrong.
Lu Jingzhi looked at Sang Yu with a hint of grievance in his eyes, as if to say, "Really? You kissed me and now you're here for a blind date? What an irresponsible flirt!"
Sang Yu thought she must be imagining things; how could Lu Jingzhi possibly look at her with such a wounded expression? It had to be an illusion. She shook her head, trying to clear her mind.
Qi Yue observed the two of them and sensed that their relationship was more complicated than it appeared. Well, he had finished his meal anyway; it was time for him to leave. He glanced at his watch and said, "I have something to attend to this afternoon. Jingzhi, you two carry on; I’ll take my leave."
"Teacher Sang, I’m heading out now. Let’s keep in touch," Qi Yue said, raising his phone in a polite farewell to Sang Yu.
Feeling quite pleased with himself, Qi Yue couldn't help but chuckle at Lu Jingzhi's earlier expression. He had heard from Lu Jingmo that his younger brother had quite the reputation for attracting women. It was amusing to see the Lu Family Second Young Master caught off guard by a girl. A strange thrill ran through him at the thought—how hilarious!
