Sang Yu went out to eat. She usually got along well with Yu, who called her to go for lunch. They both got into the same school and often had lunch together.
"Alright, fine." Sang Yu stood up, put on her clothes, and walked out of the office with Yu, one after the other.
"Are you okay? I saw you slumped over your desk for a while. Are you feeling unwell?" Yu asked with concern.
"Uh, I'm fine. I just didn't sleep well last night and I'm a bit tired," Sang Yu shook her head and replied. She couldn't tell Yu that she had been thinking about her ex-boyfriend during class.
"Me too. I was scrolling through my phone until one in the morning, and I feel drained today," Yu said, yawning as she spoke.
"You really stayed up too late," Sang Yu disapproved.
"It's because I got addicted to watching videos. The more I watched, the more I wanted to see, and before I knew it, it was already one o'clock! And that was me forcing myself to sleep! Phones are truly a love-hate relationship!"
It was Tuesday, and there were sweet and sour ribs for lunch. "Let's hurry!" Yu pulled Sang Yu into a light jog; if they were late, they might miss out on the food.
"Oh! Right! I completely forgot it was Tuesday! Hurry! Hurry! The chef in the cafeteria makes the best sweet and sour ribs!" Sang Yu exclaimed excitedly. She loved them—well, everyone did. If they were late, they would definitely miss out.
"Mmm, still tastes the same. Liu Master’s skills are truly exceptional!" Sang Yu said as she picked up a piece and put it in her mouth, feeling satisfied. Thankfully, they had run fast; otherwise, they would have missed out on lunch.
"Yeah, our school’s food is indeed delicious," Yu agreed, reminiscing about how she often thought about the cafeteria's dishes even during weekends.
After work, Sang Yu relaxed on the sofa at home and rubbed her growling stomach. She had digested her lunch by now and took a piece of bread from the snack cabinet to fill her stomach a bit.
She had duty for an extended class that day; by the time she got home after work, it was already six-thirty.
While eating her bread, Sang Yu took out her phone and opened WeChat. She saw a flurry of messages in the group chat and felt a twinge of disappointment.
After finishing her bread, she casually placed her phone on the table and stood up to prepare dinner.
She wasn’t planning to make anything elaborate; she intended to whip up some rice porridge first and then cook a meat dish along with a vegetable dish for balance—nutritious and delicious.
Making rice porridge was simple: just add some red beans and rice, rinse them clean, pour them into the soy milk maker, and finally add a cup of milk. The result would be smooth and creamy porridge that tasted great.
For the meat dish, she planned to stew half a chicken that Zhou Tian had bought from the supermarket. Since it was frozen, she needed to blanch it first before stir-frying it briefly and then stewing it in a clay pot. After placing the chicken in the pot to stew, Sang Yu began preparing the vegetables. She decided to make lettuce with oyster sauce—a quick dish that would be ready in no time.
While waiting for the chicken to stew, Sang Yu quickly took a shower. By the time she finished washing up, the rice porridge was ready and so was the chicken; she truly didn’t waste any time.
She turned on the TV to find a drama series she had been following—a popular show featuring a well-known actress. The plot revolved around two doctors: during college, the female lead secretly admired a male graduate student who already had a girlfriend at that time. Later on, both of them went abroad for their careers while he was heartbroken over his girlfriend leaving him.
In his moment of sadness, she stood by him and eventually confessed her feelings. They ended up together and got married. However, as he slowly began to like her back, she became utterly disappointed in him and planned to divorce him. After several years apart, they encountered each other again under unexpected circumstances.
To be honest, if one were to say how good this drama was—it wasn't particularly amazing—but Sang Yu liked both leads well enough. Moreover, she enjoyed romantic dramas like this one and was curious about when they would finally get together again. So every night she made sure to catch up on it.
Until last night, it was only clear that they were together. With just one episode left before the finale, she was determined to watch it all.
Sang Yu ate while watching, not wanting to miss a single moment. By the time she finished her meal, the episode was nearly over, but the ending of this drama left her utterly frustrated.
Sang Yu felt a surge of anger with nowhere to vent it, radiating an aura that warned others to stay away. Who directed this terrible show? It was awful! She would never watch it a second time. The plot had kept the audience hanging, only to deliver such an ambiguous ending. If she had known, she wouldn't have bothered following this disappointing drama at all. It was truly disheartening.
