After the store manager stepped out of the private room, he turned towards the boss's office, where the boss happened to be present today.
Knock, knock.
"Come in."
Upon hearing the voice, Xu Store Manager entered and saw his boss leisurely playing a game in the executive chair.
Ah! This is the difference between people; being born into the right circumstances is indeed a skill.
"Boss, your friend Lu has arrived in the Ying Kai Fortune Private Room."
"Lu? Lao Lu?" An Yu paused his game.
"Yes, the good friend you brought when our store opened." Xu Store Manager was truly diligent in his duties.
"It seems to be Lao Lu for sure. Who did he come with?" An Yu was a bit curious.
"With a beautiful woman," Xu Store Manager replied. He wasn't exaggerating at all; Lu Jingzhi's companion was indeed a stunning beauty.
"A beauty? Just the two of them?" An Yu's eyes lit up with curiosity.
"Yes, just the two of them."
"Alright, I got it. You can get back to work." An Yu stopped playing and rested his chin on his hand, deep in thought.
Last time at the bar, An Yu couldn't pry any information from Lu Jingzhi; all he knew was that they seemed to be close friends.
Shouldn't he greet an old friend? It's basic courtesy; he couldn't be rude. An Yu would never admit that he was just eager to see what Lu Jingzhi's companion looked like.
To avoid seeing something he shouldn't, An Yu politely knocked on the door before entering.
"Lao Lu, it's really you! And this is...?" An Yu looked at Sang Yu, his eyes brightening; she was indeed a beauty.
Lu Jingzhi raised an eyebrow at this uninvited guest. It seemed An Yu had ulterior motives, but Lu Jingzhi didn't mind his friend's little thoughts.
"This is my childhood friend, An Yu. He owns this place," Lu Jingzhi introduced.
"And this is Sang Yu, my old classmate."
"Oh wow, you're Sang Yu! Nice to meet you! I grew up with Lu Jingzhi—literally bare-bottomed!" An Yu exclaimed as he reached out to shake Sang Yu's hand.
However, with a swift motion, Lu Jingzhi slapped An Yu's hand away. "Who said you grew up bare-bottomed with him?"
An Yu glared at Lu Jingzhi, feeling that he was being overly stingy. All he wanted was a handshake. However, it was rare to see Lu Jingzhi being so protective over a woman; their relationship was definitely not simple.
Lu Jingzhi seemed to ignore him and turned to Sang Yu, saying, "Just ignore him."
Sang Yu looked at An Yu's frustrated expression and couldn't help but want to laugh. The interaction between the two showed that they had a good relationship.
An Yu leaned closer to Lu Jingzhi and whispered through gritted teeth, "You really are something."
Lu Jingzhi frowned at his friend, confused by what he was mumbling about. He didn’t understand a single word.
Seeing Lu Jingzhi’s puzzled expression, An Yu felt a bit deflated. After so many years of friendship, how could they have no understanding at all? He shot a disdainful glance at Lu Jingzhi.
Lu Jingzhi was taken aback. Was he being looked down upon by An Yu? How could he not express himself clearly and then blame others?
Sang Yu chimed in, "Order whatever you want; today’s on me."
It wasn’t the first time he had treated Sang Yu to a meal. Why should someone else pay? His pride was taking a hit!
An Yu raised an eyebrow and glanced at Lu Jingzhi. It seemed someone wasn’t appreciating the gesture. Was his kindness being taken for granted? Fine, this would help him save some money.
"Your young master is wealthy," he thought. "I’ll have the waiter bring you the most expensive dishes, and don’t expect any discounts from me!"
Sang Yu smiled and nodded, not wanting to get caught in the crossfire between the two.
"Are you done?" Lu Jingzhi shot An Yu a glance. "If you're done, let’s go."
"Forget it," An Yu replied. "For the sake of the beautiful lady, I won’t argue with you today."
