Seeing Sang Yu react so strongly, Lu Jing felt a bit hurt. Was it really that difficult for her to accept that they would share a room?
Noticing Lu Jing's hurt expression, Sang Yu realized her reaction had been a bit excessive. However, the thought of them living together made her heart race with anxiety.
"I just think moving in together is a bit too fast. After all, we haven't been together for long," she said.
"We've shared a bed before. What are you afraid of? It's not like I'm going to eat you," Lu Jing replied, knowing she was referring to the night they first got together. That night, it had snowed heavily, making the roads difficult to navigate. In the morning, Lu Jing needed to drive her to work, and since he was worried about the unsafe driving conditions, he ended up staying over.
"What am I afraid of? What do I have to be afraid of? Besides, that was a special circumstance," she said dismissively. "Come on, just go get another room. I'm not used to sleeping with someone else." Given how often Lu Jing would kiss her without warning, she genuinely feared what might happen if they shared a bed again. She wasn't ready for that yet.
"Bao'er, I promise I won't do anything without your consent. I just want to hold you while we sleep," Lu Jing assured her. He understood what his girlfriend was worried about; in truth, he had no intention of taking things further this time—he simply wanted to hold her while they slept.
Sang Yu shook her head firmly, still refusing. What if things got out of hand? Plus, she was afraid she might lose herself in Lu Jing's charm. She had no resistance against him; if he tempted her, what would she do if she couldn't hold back? No way! Absolutely not! She had to stick to her principles.
The two faced off at the door for a while until finally, Lu Jing conceded. What could he do? He would pamper his girlfriend.
"Alright, alright, dear. I'll go get another room, is that okay?" Lu Jing said indulgently as he ruffled Sang Yu's hair. "You go on in and rest for a bit; I'll call you later."
"Okay, hurry back," Sang Yu replied cheerfully. Having achieved her goal, she felt quite pleased and took her luggage into the room by herself.
The room was quite spacious and featured a large floor-to-ceiling window that looked expensive. The view outside was lovely as well; she guessed that Lu Jing must have asked his friend to reserve it for them.
Watching Sang Yu enter the room, Lu Jing turned and went to the front desk to book another room. He initially wanted the one directly across from hers but found it already occupied and had to settle for the one next door instead.
At that moment, Sang Yu felt a twinge of guilt about sending Lu Jing away, but it was only a small pang—some principles still needed to be upheld.
However, having such a large room all to herself felt wasteful; she planned to ask Lu Jing later if they could switch to a smaller one.
She wasn't traditional in the sense of needing to save everything for their wedding night; it just felt too soon since they had only recently started dating. They needed time to get used to each other.
Perhaps Sang Yu subconsciously lacked security and feared they might not end up getting married after all, which made her hesitant.
Feeling cheerful, Sang Yu unpacked her belongings and lay down on the bed with her eyes closed. The previous night, when she had tried to sleep in anticipation of spending time with Lu Jing today and staying overnight, she couldn't find rest at all; she tossed and turned without being able to fall asleep. As a result, she hadn't slept well at all and woke up with panda eyes covered by concealer.
The room was quiet, and before long, Sang Yu fell asleep until there was a knock at the door.
