When Lu Jing emerged from the bathroom, more than half an hour had already passed. He looked at Sang Yu, who was sleeping soundly on the bed, and couldn't help but pinch her soft little face, whispering, "You little ungrateful one, you're sleeping so well."
Sigh! When will I be able to enjoy some intimacy? Just watching and not being able to touch feels unbearable. He had noticed that Sang Yu seemed to lack a sense of security.
If one paid attention, it was evident from Sang Yu's usual behavior. Ever since they started dating, she had never taken the initiative to reach out to him—whether it was sending a message or making a call; it was always him who contacted her first. She always handled everything on her own, never thinking of relying on him.
A slight ache tugged at Lu Jing's heart. He thought this must be related to their last relationship. In that previous relationship, he had never fulfilled his responsibilities as a boyfriend and had only brought her pain.
He wanted to give himself a good beating for that, but what was done was done; it was irreversible. All he could do now was try his best to make up for the hurt he had caused her in the past.
That was why he often clung to her—he wanted her to feel that he needed her, that he loved her. He was no longer the old Lu Jing; the person standing before her now was someone who loved her wholeheartedly.
"You silly girl," Lu Jing gently caressed Sang Yu's cheek and murmured.
If Sang Yu were to wake up now, she would surely see the love and tenderness in Lu Jing's gaze as he looked at her.
He carefully covered Sang Yu with a blanket and then lay down beside her, pulling her into his arms before finally closing his eyes in contentment.
When Sang Yu opened her eyes again, the room had darkened. Feeling someone's embrace, she looked up to see Lu Jing's peaceful sleeping face.
Lu Jing looked even more adorable while asleep. Sang Yu traced his delicate features with her fingers and softly said, "Still as handsome as ever, just more mature than in high school. Back then, his face still held some childishness. Will we continue like this?" She wasn't sure if she was asking herself or Lu Jing; she thought time would give her the answer.
After watching Lu Jing quietly for a while, Sang Yu gently removed his hand from around her waist and got up to grab her phone from the nightstand. A glance at the time startled her.
"Oh no!!! It's already five in the afternoon! No wonder it's getting dark outside; I really slept too long."
Feeling Sang Yu move, Lu Jing woke up as well. He pulled her back into his arms with his eyes still closed and said, "You're awake?" His voice was still hoarse from just waking up.
"Yes, it's already five o'clock. Shouldn't we get up?" Sang Yu rested her head against Lu Jing's chest, wrapping her arms around his waist and savoring this moment of tranquility. Being with Lu Jing allowed her to indulge in such rare moments of relaxation.
"Yeah, we should get up," Lu Jing replied, though he showed no intention of moving. Despite saying they should get up, Sang Yu also made no effort to do so; it seemed they both enjoyed this moment together.
After a while, seeing that Lu Jing still hadn't moved, Sang Yu couldn't help but say, "We really should get up; if we sleep any longer, we might not be able to sleep tonight."
"I wish we could stay like this until tomorrow morning." Heaven knows when he would have another chance to share a bed with this girl again once he got off this bed. She didn't want to move in with him nor let him move into her place. Who else could be as pitiful as him—having a girlfriend yet still feeling lonely?
Hearing some notifications from his phone, Lu Jing took it out to check. It was messages from his friends; they had sent several texts earlier while he was sleeping but hadn't called him—probably out of consideration for not wanting to disturb him and Sang Yu. "At least they know how to be sensible," Lu Jing thought to himself.
"It's Xie and the others asking us to go out. I'll call them and see what they're up to."
Lu Jing picked up the phone and dialed Xie Xuan's number. "Hello? Where are you guys?"
"Hey! Finally remembered us, huh? We thought you were lost in your sweet dreams!" Xie Xuan replied teasingly.
"Shut up! Enough with the nonsense; just tell me where you are so we can come find you."
I am soaking in a hot spring.
