Sang's monther was busy preparing for the guests, especially since they might be future in-laws. She wanted to make sure the house was spotless. After all, they hadn't had time to clean during the New Year celebrations, and a layer of dust had settled on the furniture. 0

She didn't think for a moment that the visit was merely an apology; she wasn't as naive as her daughter, who often saw things too simply. The mother from the Lu family was definitely not coming just to make amends. 0

Sang's monther had been running in circles, while Sang had his complaints. He didn't want his daughter to marry into that family, and he thought that if the house was even messier, they wouldn't be able to become in-laws at all. Just thinking about it made him happy. 0

"You might be happy about that, but I'm not. Even if we can't become in-laws, it shouldn't be for this reason. She owes them that much," Sang's monther replied. 0

"Sang Yu!" she called out, knocking on the door. After a moment of silence inside, she called again, "Xia Xia, I'm coming in!" Pushing the door open, she found Sang Xia still fast asleep. 0

"Xia Xia, wake up! The sun is already up!" Sang Yu went to the window and pulled back the curtains, letting sunlight flood into the room. 0

The sunlight hit Sang Xia's head, and she buried herself under the covers, refusing to get up. "Sister, you're so annoying! Let me sleep a little longer!" She complained about not being able to enjoy her vacation at home. 0

"It's Mom who told me to wake you up! Plus, we have guests coming over soon." 0

"Guests? Haven't we already seen all our relatives?" Sang Xia mumbled sleepily. "If they come, just entertain them yourself; I don't need to do anything." She turned over and tried to go back to sleep. 0

"It's Lu Jingzhi and his mother," Sang Yu said. 0

Three seconds later, Sang Xia jolted awake and sat up abruptly. "Who did you say is coming?" Her voice was loud enough to crack as she coughed a couple of times to clear her throat. 0

"Lu Jingzhi and his mother are coming. Are you going to get up?" Sang Yu repeated patiently. It was unclear whether it was the shocking news or their family's poor hearing that made everyone ask for clarification. 0

"Yes! Yes! The two mothers are meeting! I can't miss that!" Sang Xia exclaimed. 0

"Oh my goodness! They brought their mother along? Lu Jingzhi is impressive!" 0

"Alright, I've said my piece. Hurry up and get ready," Sang Yu urged. She still needed to put on makeup and change her clothes. 0

"Okay, that's enough; just do a little bit more," Sang said from the sofa without moving. "If they're coming, let them come; why should I care?" 0

Sang's monther looked around; things were much cleaner now. "Alright, this will do for now." 0

Sang added, "But let’s be clear: I don’t care what attitude you take; I won’t give them any special treatment." 0

"You've already got a dark expression; I definitely can't match you there. Do you really want us to become enemies?" Sang's monther replied. 0

"Do you think Lu's mother is coming with intentions similar to ours?" 0

"It should be about the same," Sang said. 0

Ever since Da Bao mentioned that Lu's mother would be visiting, they had been considering what the Lu family wanted—having their children marry would be the greatest gesture of sincerity and would put their minds at ease. 0

"What are your thoughts on this?" Sang's monther asked. 0

Sang: What can I think? Of course, I disagree! Hmph! Does he think just bringing his mother here will solve everything? 0

Sang's monther slapped Sang lightly. "You’re not considering anything else; you should at least think about your daughter. She only likes him." 0

Sang fell silent and sighed. He wanted to be tough, but buying a daughter was not an option. 0

"Mom, why don’t you and Dad change into something else?" Sang Xia came down from upstairs, noticing that their mother was dressed in casual home clothes. Wasn't it a bit too informal for the meeting between the two families? 0

Sang's monther glanced at Sang before replying, "No need to change; we’re not going out. It’s comfortable to dress like this at home." She did want to change into something more formal, but her husband wouldn’t allow it. 0

To show his disregard for them, Sang decided not to change his clothes and wouldn’t let Sang's monther change either. 0

Sang Xia said, "Well, as long as you two are happy." 0

The four of them sat on the sofa in silence, the living room quiet and the atmosphere somewhat strange. 0
