For the position of the Bai Family Head, Yao Niansi was determined to succeed.
Therefore, no matter how tricky or bizarre the challenges set by Bai Jinman were, or how sharp-tongued the young lady of the Bai Family became, she could grit her teeth and endure it all.

“Boss, having a son is not something that can be achieved alone,” a young attendant whispered as he stealthily approached during a lull in customers at the inn.
Yao Niansi put aside her thoughts, casually closing the ledger and raising an eyebrow. “I didn’t know you had studied this matter.”
The attendant chuckled sheepishly. “My wife was diagnosed with a pregnancy pulse yesterday.”
Upon hearing this, Yao Niansi paused her movements, a smile appearing on her face. “Oh? Congratulations.”
“Same to you! Hehe.” The attendant scratched his head awkwardly before continuing, “So having a son really depends on you and Yun Sheng working together. Didn’t you let Yun Sheng marry in just to win this competition? You can’t afford to falter at such a critical moment.”
Yao Niansi suddenly recalled Yun Sheng’s inexplicable words from yesterday and countered with a question: “What does it mean if a man says he cannot have children?”
The attendant pondered for a moment before replying, “Perhaps it means he cannot fulfill his duty as a man?”
“And what if such a man were to tell a woman not to have children with anyone else?”
It took the innkeeper quite some time to digest the tongue-twisting words, and hesitantly he said, “It must be because of love.”
Yao Niansi lowered her head and fell silent. Would a fool even know what love was?
She thought that Yun Sheng's displayed dependence was merely a case of the fledgling syndrome, after all, she was the first person he saw when he woke up. She also believed that someone like Yun Sheng wouldn’t understand what it truly meant to love someone, which is why she felt at ease involving him in the struggle for the position of Bai Family Head, hoping that once it was accomplished, she could leave without any burdens.
Yao Niansi didn’t dwell on this question for too long because half an hour later, three men dressed in black entered the inn.
They didn’t seem to be locals and looked quite intimidating. The leader approached and knocked forcefully on the counter, saying, “I heard there’s a man here with an infant girl?”
Yao Niansi raised her head and exchanged a glance with the innkeeper before slowly replying, “My husband and I indeed have a baby girl.”
The leader didn’t expect Yao Niansi to respond like that; he paused for a moment before asking in a threatening tone, “Is your husband named Yun Sheng?”
“No, he’s called Xu Changsheng.”
Yun Sheng was a troublemaker, and a very oblivious one at that. Yao Niansi deeply felt that not only had she picked up a financial burden, but also a source of calamity. In the two years since Yun Sheng appeared, there had been uninvited guests showing up at the inn looking for a man with an infant girl, their expressions fierce.
At first, Yao Niansi thought these might be Yun Sheng's family coming to find him. However, after she handed Yun Sheng over once and then saw him pitifully squatting at her bedside with tattered clothes holding the baby that very night, followed by those men nearly wrecking the inn the next day, Yao Niansi completely lost hope.
Yun Sheng was her disaster; he was an unavoidable calamity in her life, and she accepted it. After using her special drug to incapacitate those burly men, Yao Niansi clapped her hands and said, “Bring Yun Sheng out.”
By chance, Yao Niansi discovered that Yun Sheng had some skills; for instance, he could perform hypnosis to make those troublemakers forget certain things.
From then on, Yun Sheng became the tool for dealing with these people.
After all, these were troubles he had brought upon himself, so it was only right that he should resolve them personally, thought Yao Niansi with satisfaction.
The waiter rushed out from the back room in a panic. "Boss, Yun Sheng is missing!"
