Ling Yu, a handsome young man just turned twenty, was happily studying at a university in Su City. With his mother abroad, he lived alone for the first time. Since starting college, Ling Yu had been working hard to learn how to live independently.
He had three roommates, each with their own unique personality. One was affectionately nicknamed Xiao Pang due to his round physique, but his strong build earned him a cute moniker. Another was A Fei, a basketball expert with a commanding presence. The last was A Le, a slender rock music enthusiast. Despite their differences, the four of them grew closer through their shared experiences.
Ling Yu's peaceful life continued until one day when that tranquility was shattered. He had long harbored a crush on the beautiful Liu Ting from campus but lacked the courage to confess his feelings. Instead, he could only steal glances at her from afar during class, his actions hardly qualifying as infatuation.
One day, while secretly writing a love letter and dreaming of giving it to Liu Ting on a special occasion, Xiao Pang burst into the room and snatched the letter, reading it aloud with great enthusiasm. "Liu Ting, from the moment I first saw you, I couldn't forget you!" As he read on, he teased Ling Yu, "I never knew you were such a shy guy!"
"Xiao Pang, stop it!" Ling Yu's face turned crimson as he hurriedly tried to reclaim the letter.
A Fei and A Le were drawn in by the commotion and gathered around to watch Xiao Pang's antics. But Xiao Pang playfully dodged Ling Yu's attempts to retrieve the letter and continued reading loudly: "Let’s hear what our romantic hero has written! I only dare to look at you from afar, afraid of disturbing you. Hahaha!"
"Enough already! Give it back!"
"You don’t understand! I’m serious!" Ling Yu's eyes glistened with tears of frustration.
Seeing this, his roommates suddenly stopped laughing. Xiao Pang handed back the letter and gently patted Ling Yu on the shoulder. "Hey, you really surprised us. Don’t be sad; we’re all here for you." A Fei gave Ling Yu a reassuring pat on the back while A Le nodded in agreement, and the atmosphere shifted to one of seriousness.
Xiao Pang cleared his throat and said, "We need to come up with a plan to let Liu Ting know how you feel." The four of them sat together and began brainstorming strategies.
Ling Yu looked at these three roommates who had once been joking around but were now earnestly discussing his feelings. A warm current surged through him; he realized he wasn’t fighting this battle alone. Their deep friendship gave him the courage to face the challenges ahead as they began sharing ideas on how to make Liu Ting feel Ling Yu's sincerity.
Xiao Pang spoke up first: "We all know that Xing likes Liu Ting and often claims she's his girlfriend in public."
"Liu Ting isn’t that shallow; she wouldn’t fall for someone like Xing," A Fei added.
"Not to bring you down," A Fei continued, "but I heard that last time Xing got into a fight with Wang Baoguo at school, it escalated to the police station. In the end, Liu Ting had to contact Xing's parents because their families are connected. Xing got off without any consequences while Wang Baoguo was expelled."
Hearing this made Ling Yu feel somewhat disheartened. "Thank you for your concern; I should give up," he said reluctantly. "But I still don’t want to let go."
