Along the way, Gu Si Yi was talking while Wu Yunyun listened.
After ten minutes, Gu Si Yi grabbed Wu Yunyun's arm and asked her, "Don't you have anything you want to ask me?"
Wu Yunyun, startled, suddenly broke free from his grasp and ran away with all her might.
Gu Si Yi looked at his empty hand, then at her hurried retreating figure, a hint of curiosity flashing in his eyes. He considered himself fairly good-looking; at school, many girls flocked around him, and he was always the one wanting to escape. But now, she had become the one trying to hide from him. He couldn't help but find it amusing.
At home, Wu Yunyun pressed her hand against her wildly beating heart. She took several deep breaths but still couldn't control herself. Shock and disbelief mingled with a joy she desperately tried to suppress.
In truth, she had been harboring a crush on him for quite some time; he probably didn't even know how dazzling he was. He was handsome and academically gifted, and even among their classmates, many girls discussed him during breaks. Their encounters at school were few and far between, and even then, they merely brushed past each other.
She had come to this school because Old Madam saw her potential in studies and appreciated her mother, which led to her receiving a bit more care than others. After being here for a while, she deeply felt the gap between herself and those wealthy heirs; she began to understand her mother better as well. It seemed they lacked the capital to truly integrate into that world; just being able to share a small part of it was already quite an achievement.
Once she calmed down, Wu Yunyun felt more fear than anything else. That night, she couldn't sleep. Even though Gu Si Yi had said he wanted to walk with her, Wu Yunyun could always find various ways to escape. She thought he would eventually lose interest if he found it boring.
However, unexpectedly, after the end of the semester, Gu Si Yi grabbed the strap of Wu Yunyun's backpack and pulled her into a small alley.
He let go of her but saw that she still wanted to run away. He got straight to the point: "Be my girlfriend, Wu Yunyun."
Wu Yunyun stared at him in shock. "Young Master, please don't joke around."
"Just give it a try with me, okay?"
Wu Yunyun looked up at Gu Si Yi, and upon seeing the seriousness in his eyes, she suddenly felt a bit flustered. Gu Si Yi observed her for a moment, and when she didn’t respond, he concluded, “Then I’ll take that as a yes.”
With that, he took her backpack off her shoulder. “Let’s really go home together today, my girlfriend.”
Holding her backpack, Gu Si Yi took a couple of steps forward. Noticing that Wu Yunyun hadn’t caught up yet, he kindly stood still and waited for her to come over.
As Wu Yunyun heard the words "my girlfriend," her mind spun, and she felt so disoriented that she didn’t even know how to walk. Looking at him, she realized for the first time that taking a step forward was quite difficult.
Gu Si Yi turned back to her and noticed the confusion on her face. Half-jokingly, he said, “Don’t worry, I’ll treat you well.” When she remained silent, he continued, “Winter break is coming soon. How about we go skiing together?” He had one backpack on his back and another cradled in his arms.
He slowly stepped back and added, “I can tell from your reaction that you probably don’t know how to ski yet. Don’t worry; I’ll teach you then.”
“It's settled then.” Gu Si Yi snapped his fingers and suddenly stepped closer to her, leaving Wu Yunyun momentarily stunned. He gently tapped his fist against her sleeve and declared, “It’s a deal—my girlfriend!”
