Gu Si Yi asked Wu Yunyun to make him a cup of coffee but didn’t specify which kind.
Wu Yunyun stood in front of the coffee machine for a while, building up the courage to ask him. Gu Si Yi, who had been pretending to read on the sofa, immediately stood up when he heard her call. He was wearing a white loungewear outfit, with two buttons left undone, exuding a strong aura of masculinity.
He walked over to Wu Yunyun, picked up the glass jar containing the coffee beans, and began to teach her step by step. Wu Yunyun listened intently, not daring to lose focus, while Gu Si Yi found himself distracted.
As he turned the grinder, slowly grinding the coffee beans into fine powder, he watched her. She hadn’t changed much in height; she still maintained her petite figure, probably around one meter sixty, just tall enough to reach his shoulder. Before she arrived, he had taken a shower and styled his hair with gel, yet her unwavering gaze made it impossible for him to entertain any flirtatious thoughts.
Gu Si Yi stopped his movements and poured the ground coffee into the machine. He pressed the brew button and turned to Wu Yunyun, saying, “Could you get me a bottle of milk from the fridge?”
“Sure.” Wu Yunyun opened the fridge and spotted the familiar milk bottle; he had always used this brand.
She composed herself and placed the fresh milk in front of Gu Si Yi.
“Can you open it for me?”
“Of course.” Wu Yunyun twisted off the cap. “Should I pour it in?”
“Yeah.” Gu Si Yi moved the cup filled with coffee closer to her as she poured in the milk.
“That’s quite a lot; I’m used to this brand,” Gu Si Yi said leisurely, gazing deeply at Wu Yunyun.
Feeling a bit embarrassed, she wondered why he was telling her this. It seemed that he really liked this brand. She chuckled in response.
“What about you?”
“Me?” Wu Yunyun found it strange but replied earnestly, “I like to try different things. For instance, with fresh milk, I might like peach flavor for a while, then blueberry flavor later on. Eventually, I’ll switch again; I can’t stick to just one brand endlessly.”
After she finished speaking, she noticed Gu Si Yi had fallen silent; he hadn’t spoken for quite some time.
Gu Si Yi gathered his thoughts; perhaps what he said earlier was a bit lonely. However, he had all the time in the world.
“There’s still some coffee left; would you like to try it?”
"I'm fine, Young Master. I can't drink coffee at night; it makes me restless," Wu Yunyun quickly replied.
Gu Si Yi's thoughts were entirely focused on her. After hearing her words, he let out a hiss as he realized he had just taken a sip of hot coffee. Fortunately, he had poured in some fresh milk, which prevented the pain from being too severe.
"Young Master, did you burn yourself?" Wu Yunyun asked, momentarily forgetting everything else as she tiptoed forward to check his injury.
However, she misjudged the distance between them, causing her footing to falter. Instinctively, she reached out to grab something in front of her. When she finally registered what she was holding, it startled her.
Gu Si Yi let out a muffled groan, his hand pressing tightly against the bar to control the urge to pull her into his embrace. He kept telling himself to take it slow.
Wu Yunyun jumped back in surprise, maintaining a proper distance from him. She suppressed the turmoil within and feigned calmness as she asked, "Do you have any burn ointment here?"
Gu Si Yi straightened up and replied, "No."
"Should I go get some for you?" she offered.
"No need; it's just a small injury. It'll heal in a few days," he said. After speaking, he noticed Wu Yunyun's expression and felt a pang of regret.
Wu Yunyun wanted to say more but held back. "It's nothing; I'll be going now," she said instead.
Gu Si Yi watched her, his mind racing with thoughts, yet he couldn't find a reason to keep her there. After a moment, he nodded at her.
Receiving his response, Wu Yunyun quickly walked out.
Once she left, Gu Si Yi kicked the sofa in frustration and let out a deep breath. He kept reassuring himself that they had plenty of time ahead of them.
After calming down, he sat on the sofa and opened the front camera on his phone to examine his swollen lips. He walked over to the fridge, took out an ice pack, and pressed it against his lips. It took a long while for the swelling to subside.
