After Lin Miao left, neither of them spoke first. Wu Yunyun glanced at Gu Si Yi and finally asked, "What did you mean earlier?"
"It means exactly what it says, Wu Yunyun. You are in my heart, and only you."
Wu Yunyun was taken aback. She looked at him, momentarily at a loss for words.
Seeing her stunned expression, Gu Si Yi realized that everything he had done over the past few days had been in vain. He hadn’t expected her to be this slow on the uptake. But then he understood; perhaps she simply didn’t want to believe it.
He sat down and took her hand. "What’s wrong? Are you scared?"
Wu Yunyun nodded, holding her breath as she looked at his handsome face. "A little."
Gu Si Yi smiled, lifting her hand and placing it against his chest. "Wu Yunyun, what should I do? I’ve fallen for you. Do you want me?"
Wu Yunyun realized she had never felt this nervous before, as if her next words could determine everything for him. "I need to think about it," she replied.
They had never been completely open with each other. At first, he had closed off his heart, and later on, that person had distanced herself from him. Perhaps once they truly spent time together, he would realize that she was not what he imagined. They might not be suitable for each other after all.
Gu Si Yi held her hand tightly. "Then don’t leave. Let’s continue to see how things go."
Wu Yunyun nodded. She realized she had made the most daring decision of her life. This time, regardless of the outcome, she was ready to accept it.
After taking Lin Miao's medicine, Wu Yunyun's cough had mostly subsided after a week. She still stayed at Gu Si Yi's house.
She searched online for a way to test her boyfriend and circled ten items that piqued her interest. She thought that if he passed this test, they could officially be together.
That night, before bed, Wu Yunyun told Gu Si Yi that she wanted to eat Chengxi Soup Dumplings from that particular shop, which opened at six in the morning and only sold for two hours.
Gu Si Yi gently patted her head and promised to buy them for her the next day.
Wu Yunyun fell asleep with a slight smile on her lips. Gu Si Yi watched her and softly placed a kiss on her forehead.
This turtle finally dared to slowly extend its feelers. How could he bear not to satisfy her?
"Thank you for giving me the opportunity," Wu Yunyun thought. He would accept her tests anytime, anywhere.
In the morning, while Wu Yunyun was still waking up, Gu Si Yi got out of bed. After an hour and a half, he returned with Soup Dumplings and Red Date Soy Milk.
He placed the food on the dining table and called out for Wu Yunyun.
Still groggy, she was roused by his voice. "Get up! I brought you Soup Dumplings!"
"Really?" Wu Yunyun's eyes widened in surprise.
"Yes." Gu Si Yi helped adjust the straps of her dress. "Don't tempt me so early in the morning."
"I’m not!" Wu Yunyun blushed, unable to handle the flirtatious atmosphere as she got out of bed.
She hurried over to the dining table, opened the thermos, and there they were—her longed-for Soup Dumplings.
Wu Yunyun stuffed one into her mouth, marking off another item on her list of things he did for her that morning.
Gu Si Yi wrapped his arms around her from behind. "It's cold in the morning; put on another layer."
"Got it." Wu Yunyun nestled into his embrace, a smile spreading across her face.
