"It's fine, we're just here to have fun, so it doesn't matter if we take a little longer," Zhu Lan insisted.
"I also want to introduce him to you, but he's not feeling well right now, and honestly, this isn't the best time to meet," Wu Yunyun said awkwardly, rubbing her temples as a headache began to set in.
"Come on, don't be so formal with me!" Zhu Lan replied, pulling out a pack of mint-flavored gum from her bag and offering it to her. "Let your boyfriend chew on this for a bit; it might help ease the nausea."
"Thank you." Wu Yunyun knew that meeting was unavoidable under the current circumstances. She released her grip on Gu Si Yi's arm.
Gu Si Yi supported himself with his hands on his waist as he stood up and turned around.
"Young Master, is that really you?" Zhu Lan's eyes widened in excitement, sparkling with enthusiasm.
What had she said back then? She claimed that the Young Master was involved with Wu Yunyun, but no one believed her!
"What’s going on between you two?" she feigned ignorance, glancing between them.
Now, let’s see how she spins this!
Gu Si Yi wrapped his arm around Wu Yunyun's shoulders and cleared his throat before saying, "Wu Yunyun and I are together now."
Zhu Lan covered her mouth with both hands, eagerly watching the unfolding drama—it felt exhilarating!
Wu Yunyun quickly added, "We just started dating recently; our relationship isn't stable yet. Please keep this a secret for me." She took Zhu Lan's hand and earnestly made her request.
"Don't worry, I promise I won't say a word!" Zhu Lan assured her.
However, Wu Yunyun noticed that the look in Zhu Lan's eyes didn't convey trust. She even felt that whatever she said might not have been fully understood.
Wu Yunyun let go of her hand and thought to herself that it was best to let things unfold as they would.
With that in mind, she found it hard to enjoy herself for the rest of the afternoon.
Gu Si Yi noticed her distraction and gently patted her head. "Don't overthink it; whatever happens, I'm here for you."
Wu Yunyun didn't feel any more relaxed from his comforting words. She thought that eventually, they would say she was the one who was reaching for him—some realities had to be faced sooner or later.
The two spent the afternoon playing around before grabbing lunch nearby and heading back home.
On the road, Wu Yunyun received a message from Wu's Mother. It contained only a brief note asking her to return home.
Wu Yunyun's expression darkened further. When Gu Si Yi asked her about it, she replied, "My mother wants me to go back to the old house."
"I'll go with you."
Gu Si Yi looked at her, worry etched on his face. He felt that given her current state, if she went back, it would mean facing the news of their separation. In times of trouble, the first person she would abandon would undoubtedly be him.
"You’re too tired; I’ll go back by myself." Wu Yunyun was afraid; she believed her mother would not be able to accept it. After all, she had always been diligent throughout her life, and in such situations, there would surely be people gossiping behind her back. She cared deeply about her reputation.
So it was settled. "Wu Yunyun, don’t even think about shaking me off!"
Wu Yunyun looked at Gu Si Yi; he seemed more anxious than she was, but lost in her own emotions, she hadn’t noticed.
"What are you so nervous about?"
"I’m afraid you’ll give up on me," Gu Si Yi said, gripping Wu Yunyun's hand tightly, his handsome face filled with vulnerability. "I beg you, don’t give up on me."
Wu Yunyun’s heart softened at the sight. She tightened her grip on his hand and said firmly, "Okay, I won’t let go. No matter what happens, I won’t let go."
This was the first time she had given him such a heavy promise.
