Gu Si Yi spent six years becoming the youngest economics professor at the university. He went abroad to study with this goal in mind, and now, he finally reaped the rewards. He knew that Wu Yunyun had returned to Teikyo recently, but he couldn't find any reason to approach her. He asked Zhou Liaosheng for advice.
Zhou Liaosheng suggested that he go on blind dates, claiming it would create more topics for conversation. Gu Si Yi had his mother help him find candidates, and after spending time with those potential matches, he found it surprisingly effective. One day, he tentatively asked Su Butler if the family had been talking about his blind dates lately. Su Butler broke into a sweat and hurriedly claimed it was just the servants being foolish. Gu Si Yi simply replied that it was fine for them to spread the news; he was upright and had nothing to fear.
After that day, Gu Si Yi noticed several times that Wu Yunyun was either sweeping or wiping down surfaces while intently listening to her friends talk about him. Each time, he observed her calm demeanor; she truly acted like a competent bystander, enjoying the gossip. While feeling somewhat defeated, he made a decision: he would take action!
Finally, one afternoon, he successfully cornered her. When he called out to her, his voice was filled with anger, and she surprisingly remarked that he seemed well-matched with Ji Sheng. He felt compelled to teach her a lesson.
He immediately ordered her to clean up his courtyard. Upon hearing his command, her eyes widened in disbelief, mixed with a hint of anger. But he didn't care; as long as he could see her often, he didn't mind letting her misunderstand him for a while.
Watching her flee, he suppressed the urge to chase after her. Suddenly, he regretted wasting so much time. That night, after returning home, he rummaged through his wallet and pulled out an old photograph that had begun to fade. Memories flooded back like a tide. He remembered how she used to be so reserved in front of him at the beginning.
From some unknown day, things had become chattier. Once he joined the school's extracurricular activities, he would often see her from time to time.
During a basketball friendly match, their class faced off against Class Nine. In the large gymnasium, he spotted her. She was wiping the sweat from her forehead, holding a plastic bag filled with electrolyte drinks. He didn’t plan to tell her that their lunch break was at noon; at that moment, she should have been taking a nap in the classroom.
After a few rounds, it was clear they were going to win. The captain of the opposing team, Chen Hao, seeing his team lose, put down the ball and approached Wu Yunyun. He reached out his hand and said, “Hey little sister, we’re classmates; could you spare me a bottle of water?”
Before she could respond, he rushed over and snatched the bottle from Chen Hao’s hand, warning him fiercely that she was his girlfriend! Chen Hao laughed dismissively and remarked that their relationship wouldn’t last long. Those words infuriated him even more; how dare he undermine their bond right in front of him?
He exchanged glances with Sun Xian and the others, who understood what he intended to do and persuaded Wu Yunyun to leave the scene. Afterward, he taught that guy a harsh lesson.
When school was over, she asked him how he got the bruise on the back of his hand. He replied that it was just an accident. However, she looked worried and gently took his hand in hers, blowing on it softly before pulling out a band-aid from her backpack and applying it for him.
Gu Si Yi felt as if his heart had been brushed by a feather. He immediately muttered, “How childish.” Yet, the corners of his mouth lifted into a slight smile.
