Wu Yunyun had originally planned to go shopping with Yu Chan. However, the plan was put on hold because Yu Chan had to start filming. In April, after Yu Chan finished her shoot, she immediately arranged to go shopping with Wu Yunyun.
As soon as they met, Yu Chan looked Wu Yunyun up and down and said, "Wu Yunyun, I feel like you've become more beautiful!"
"Really?" Wu Yunyun touched her face.
"Absolutely! Your outfit looks great and matches your whole vibe perfectly. Plus, you look really healthy; it’s clear you’ve been doing well lately."
Wu Yunyun thought about it and realized that since she had started dating Gu Si Yi, he had indeed treated her well. In terms of clothing, food, and living arrangements, he had provided her with things she had never even dared to dream of before. She felt that Yu Chan's words served as a wake-up call, reminding her that she had become too invested.
Noticing that Wu Yunyun didn’t seem happier after the compliment, Yu Chan asked, "What’s wrong, Wu Yunyun?"
"It’s nothing; I’m just not used to you praising me."
Zhou Liaosheng sat in the passenger seat, watching Wu Yunyun through the rearview mirror. He thought that Gu Si Yi's concerns were not unfounded. Just a couple of days ago, Gu Si Yi had told him that Wu Yunyun hadn’t fallen in love with him. However, seeing Wu Yunyun now gave Zhou Liaosheng a different perspective. After all, their relationship had an expiration date; someone like Wu Yunyun, who lacked security, would surely leave herself an escape route.
Zhou Liaosheng dropped them off at the mall and waited downstairs. As Wu Yunyun got out of the car, she realized she had never bought a gift for Gu Si Yi. Most of the time, he was the one giving.
She turned to Yu Chan and said, "I want to pick out a gift for him."
Yu Chan asked, "How’s your relationship going?"
"Pretty good; we haven’t fought at all, and he tends to be quite accommodating."
"That’s great! So have you thought about making him yours?"
"I still want to leave the choice in his hands."
"Come on! You really need to think about yourself more. If you like him, just go for it! Relationships aren’t as complicated as you think."
"I can't do this. I can't bear being rejected by someone twice. Maybe it's that little bit of pride acting up, but even so, she didn't want to move anymore."
Yu Chan, knowing that persuasion wouldn’t work, stopped trying and simply wrapped her arm around her. "Let's go pick out a gift, and while we're at it, I'll help you choose a battle robe."
By the time Wu Yunyun realized what the battle robe was, she wished she could find a hole to hide in.
Yu Chan was all enthusiasm, pushing her into the fitting room to try it on. In the end, they chose a set that was visually striking.
Wu Yunyun felt the bag was a bit hot in her hands. She folded it neatly and placed it in her own bag, finally letting out a sigh of relief.
Next was selecting a gift for Gu Si Yi. Wu Yunyun knew he lacked nothing. Ultimately, she decided on a tie. The price was something she could manage, and he only wore suits on special occasions, so it wouldn’t matter if it gathered dust in his closet.
She browsed through the store, finally picking out a black striped tie that was more casual in style. When it came time to pay, she felt a pinch in her heart.
Seeing her choose, Yu Chan also picked out a few ties for her cheap cousin.
Wu Yunyun watched as Yu Chan paid without batting an eye, silently lamenting the disparities in the world.
After parting ways, Wu Yunyun returned home and took the battle robe out of her bag. Hearing Gu Si Yi's voice as he came back, she quickly shoved it to the very bottom of her closet.
After fumbling around for a bit, she finally grabbed the gift she had bought and went out.
As she walked past him, she handed him the gift box. "I bought this for you."
Gu Si Yi looked at her, his face turning red. He interpreted it as her being shy.
He gazed at her for a moment before taking the gift box and opening it to reveal the tie inside.
He unwrapped it and took her hand. "Do you know how to wear this?"
Today he happened to be wearing a white shirt as he headed to a school lecture.
Wu Yunyun shook her head.
"Then I'll teach you." Gu Si Yi held Wu Yunyun's hand and began to wrap the tie step by step until it was finally tied perfectly.
Wu Yunyun looked at him, feeling her heart flutter once again. He always had this ability to draw people in without them even realizing it.
She stood on her tiptoes, wrapping her arms around his neck. "Gu Si Yi, let's kiss."
Gu Si Yi smiled, his soft lips pressing against hers.
"Alright," he said.
