Han Hanyue recently took on a modern drama. In it, she plays a vicious supporting character. This role was assigned to her by He Luan, who felt that she had been too quiet lately.
On set, they were filming a scene where the supporting character, consumed by jealousy, pushes the female lead into the water. The female lead is portrayed by Jin Xiaohua and Wu Yue. Once all departments were ready, Wu Yue followed the script's direction and pushed Han Hanyue into the water.
As Han Hanyue fell into the water, the moment she made contact, she felt an overwhelming desire to stop struggling. She sank in the shallow water for nearly three minutes. It wasn't until everyone noticed something was wrong that the director urgently pushed Wu Yue to retrieve Han Hanyue.
The reason he didn't want a male actor to go in was that they all knew He Zong had a strong possessive streak. If he found out someone had touched his woman, there would be dire consequences.
Wu Yue trembled as she entered the water, struggling with all her might to pull Han Hanyue back up. She performed CPR on her, but due to the prolonged time underwater, Han Hanyue still hadn't regained consciousness. Terrified, Wu Yue cried out to the director for help.
Without wasting any time, they rushed Han Hanyue to the hospital. On the way, the director tried calling He Luan, but the line was busy. Reluctantly, he dialed Han Hanyue's grandfather instead.
Upon hearing that his granddaughter had fallen into the water, Han Yikun hurried to the hospital. On the way there, his assistant mentioned that the pool where she fell was less than a meter deep. Han Yikun frowned, as if realizing something.
Once at the hospital, he ordered the medical staff to clear out unnecessary personnel before inquiring about his granddaughter's condition. After receiving satisfactory answers, he finally relaxed a bit.
While waiting outside, He Luan's calls came in intermittently. After half an hour, He Luan finally answered. Seeing his disheveled state, Han Yikun called Old He and briefly instructed him to take He Luan home. He added that his granddaughter had already been harmed by him.
Old He was taken aback and wanted to ask what happened, but Han Yikun hung up before he could get a word in. He sent a message: If you don’t want things to escalate between us, have someone take him back.
After hearing this, He Luan collapsed onto the ground in disbelief; he couldn't accept what this man was saying—he didn’t believe a word of it.
"Grandpa, I want to see Hanyue," He Luan pleaded as he knelt on the ground.
"See her?!" Han Yikun struck He Luan's back with a stick. "You should be grateful I haven’t taken your life! Get out of my sight right now; I don’t want to see you!"
He Luan frowned but refused to move an inch. "Then just kill me!"
Han Yikun nodded, "Then I will fulfill your wish!" He swung his cane, but his assistant snatched it away from him. "Mr. Han, don’t do this. The young lady has already left. Let him live and suffer for the rest of his life in regret."
Han Yikun gazed deeply at him and reclaimed the cane. He patted the assistant's shoulder, "Yes, if I had known earlier, I would never have allowed them to be together."
After his granddaughter started seeing He Luan, he noticed her unusual behavior but thought it was normal for young people to have conflicts and that they should resolve them on their own. Moreover, his granddaughter had a domineering personality; he didn’t believe anyone could ride over her.
He realized he had been too arrogant.
The assistant’s eyes turned red as he clenched his fists. He felt inferior, believing he was unworthy of the young lady, always hiding in the shadows. Yet, the person he cherished most was deeply hurt by that scoundrel.
Soon, the people sent by Old He arrived. They attempted to take He Luan away, but He Luan engaged them in a fight. The group didn’t use their full strength and ended up getting injured.
The leader called Old He and reported that the young master was uncooperative.
Receiving the order, Old He commanded, "Then knock him out and bring him back."
Not long after receiving the command, He Luan lay limply on the ground. In that moment as he fell, a tear lingered at the corner of his eye.
Han Hanyue woke up the next day. Her first reaction upon seeing her surroundings was fear.
Han Yikun held her hand, his voice choked with emotion, "I’m sorry for what happened to you."
Han Hanyue shook her head and cried as she fell into Han Yikun's embrace. The assistant stood by, wiping away tears from his eyes.
Once Han Hanyue's emotions stabilized, Han Yikun said to her, "I will announce to the outside world that you have died. From now on, I will remove your name from your grandmother's household registration; there will be no more Han Hanyue in this world."
"Grandpa, how do you know?" Han Hanyue asked as her eyes brimmed with tears.
"You are the one I raised since childhood; how could I not understand your thoughts?" Han Yikun shot her a stern look.
If she wanted to die, then he would fulfill that wish.
"I don’t want to stay in Teikyo anymore; I don’t like it here," Han Hanyue said through her tears.
"Grandpa will find a way," Han Yikun said as he gently stroked her head. "You’ve suffered these years."
Han Hanyue hugged her grandfather tightly; this time she could finally leave him behind. From now on, she wouldn’t have to live in fear anymore.
Three years later, in Yujiang City.
Han Hanyue was attending to customers in a flower shop. When she came to Yujiang back then, she happened to see this shop for sale. She immediately took a liking to it and bought it.
Over the years, she hadn't made much money, but every day she tended to her flowers and plants, finding solace in their presence. Alongside her was her grandfather's assistant, Fu Hongyi, whom she affectionately called Fu Ge. Since it was just the two of them most of the time, they often engaged in conversation.
She learned that he was thirty years old and single. She thought he might be a noble bachelor, just like herself. As they spent more time together, she discovered that he was truly a jack-of-all-trades, effortlessly handling everything except for the care of the plants, which she took on herself.
One day, she asked him if it felt like a waste for him to be here with her. He simply replied that following the young lady allowed him to learn many things.
On April 5th, an unexpected guest arrived at the flower shop. The visitor asked Han Hanyue for a bouquet of Bellflowers. The sudden encounter made her heart race and her pupils dilate. She apologized and excused herself to the restroom.
Clenching her fists, she looked at her pale reflection in the mirror. Without thinking twice, she called Fu Hongyi: "Fu Ge, I saw him." There was no need to specify who "him" was. "I'm coming back right away. What should I do? I don't know how to face him."
"Remember, your name is Ji Ran now; you are not Han Hanyue," Fu Hongyi's words struck her like a shot of adrenaline to her heart.
"I understand." Han Hanyue splashed cold water on her face to wash away her anxiety. When she emerged, she carefully wrapped the bouquet and handed it to He Luan. "I'm sorry for keeping you waiting. Here are your flowers."
"You look very much like someone I used to know," He Luan said as he took the flowers, his gaze fixed on her.
He was certain that the person before him was the one he had been searching for over the past three years. He had always known she was alive.
Han Hanyue nodded and smiled back at him. "That just shows there are many similar people in this world."
"My name is Ji Ran; I've lived in Yu Jiang since I was little. I don't know you."
"Is that so? It seems I've been too forward," He Luan replied, noticing her struggle to accept his presence and not wanting to pressure her further.
He continued, "I happen to be on a business trip in Yu Jiang during the Qingming Festival, so I've been coming here every day to buy a bouquet in memory of my wife."
Han Hanyue felt a chill run down her spine but suppressed the urge to scold him for being shameless. "Alright," she responded quietly.
He Luan looked deeply into her eyes for a moment before taking the flowers and leaving.
After He Luan left, Fu Hongyi hurried back, looking worn and weary.
He embraced her tightly, asking, "Ran Ran, he didn't hurt you, did he?"
Han Hanyue held onto Fu Hongyi and replied, "No, but it seems like he recognized me."
Fu Hongyi comforted her, saying, "From now on, I won't send flowers anymore. Whatever we do, we'll do it together."
"Okay, thank you, Fu Ge."
This title brought Fu Hongyi back to reality in an instant. He released her and awkwardly apologized, "I'm sorry for what I just—"
Han Hanyue quickly responded, "It's fine, Fu Ge. I've long considered you my family."
She feigned generosity, concealing the small pang of emotion in her heart.
"Good." Fu Hongyi looked at her, his gaze dimming.
That night, rain began to fall in Yujiang City.
Han Hanyue thought she could handle it.
However, the heavy rain accompanied by thunder and He Luan's words lingered in her mind, refusing to fade away. She would have to face that demon again tomorrow.
As she was lost in fear, a knock came at the door. Han Hanyue glanced at the clock; it was already eleven o'clock.
"Who is it?" she asked.
"It's me."
Hearing Fu Hongyi's voice, Han Hanyue hurriedly got out of bed without putting on her shoes to open the door.
"Here’s your milk." Fu Hongyi held out a glass of milk and noticed she was barefoot on the floor and slightly damp. He stepped inside, trying hard not to focus on her. "Why aren't you wearing shoes?"
Han Hanyue took the milk and only then realized she was wearing just a spaghetti strap top. But she couldn't care less; she simply pleaded, "Fu Ge, can you stay here tonight?"
Seeing that Fu Hongyi didn't respond immediately, she quickly assured him, "I'm just really scared; I won't do anything."
Before she could finish her sentence, Fu Hongyi replied softly, "Okay."
The tension in Han Hanyue's heart finally eased as she drank the milk and ran to the bedside to put on her slippers. "Let's each take one side."
"Alright." Fu Hongyi lay down obediently but found it hard to sleep.
The entire bed was filled with her scent, making his mind wander uncontrollably. His body reacted involuntarily.
He took deep breaths to calm himself down but found it increasingly difficult to control his feelings. The more he tried to suppress them, the worse it became.
Han Hanyue also couldn't sleep; she cautiously spoke up, "Fu Ge, can I hold your hand? I'm scared."
Fu Hongyi extended his hand toward her.
Han Hanyue held on tightly, finally feeling satisfied. Thank you, Fu Ge. She drifted off to sleep.
At first, she merely held his hand, but soon she was embracing his entire arm, and eventually, she nestled herself completely in his embrace, like a pendant hanging from him.
Fu Hongyi felt the warmth in his arms and couldn't help but gently wrap his arms around her waist.
In the early morning, Han Hanyue woke up in Fu Hongyi's embrace. She suppressed the urge to scream, covering her mouth as she looked at the man before her. His face was resolute, with prominent features and a healthy wheat-colored complexion that perfectly matched the tough-guy image often seen online.
She shifted slightly, feeling stiff, and chose to close her eyes again. It was normal for a man to have such reactions in the morning.
Fu Hongyi had always been a light sleeper; after waking up, he held his breath for a moment. From his angle, he could see her completely. He carefully moved her aside, covered her with a blanket, and quietly got out of bed.
Once he heard the sound of the door closing, Han Hanyue opened her eyes. She wrapped herself tightly in the blanket and belatedly realized that she was not a goddess. She didn't reject being close to him; in fact, she looked forward to it. However, thinking about her past made her forcefully suppress that thought.
He Luan indeed arrived. However, when he entered the shop, he didn't expect there to be other people present. He cast an unfriendly glance at the tall man who towered over him.
Fu Hongyi greeted him without allowing Han Hanyue to intervene. He Luan held the Bellflower and stepped outside but turned back at the last moment to ask her who this person was.
Han Hanyue grasped Fu Hongyi's arm and introduced him: "He is my Husband."
At that moment, aside from her, both men in the shop were taken aback. Fu Hongyi froze for a second before wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her closer into his embrace.
