"Do you think he's a pervert?" Tan Ming asked, feeling utterly embarrassed.
He truly had no face left to show.
Qi Qiuluo noticed him covering his face and remarked, "I didn't expect you to be so thin-skinned."
Yan Qing chuckled softly.
Tan Ming quickly changed the subject and asked Yan Qing, "Why are there only three people in your dorm?"
During his last visit to Yan Qing's dormitory, Tan Ming had paid attention to the list of residents.
"Oh, our dorm is the last one assigned in our class. The three of us registered late, so we got split up," Yan Qing explained. "But I don't stay in the dorm often. Zhao Xiang is even busier; he hardly stays there at all. Most of the time, He Zhengwei is alone in the dorm."
However, Yan Qing couldn't guarantee whether He Zhengwei had ever brought friends over.
He Zhengwei was quite timid; he would apologize multiple times if someone accidentally bumped into his desk.
Yan Qing held Zhao Xiang in high regard, which Tan Ming was aware of.
He asked, "What’s your relationship with He Zhengwei like?"
"Just okay," Yan Qing thought for a moment, realizing they weren't that familiar after all.
Fan Xiaonan looked puzzled. "How can you not know someone in the same dorm?"
"I rarely stay in the dorm and hardly interact with him. In class, it's even worse; he always sits in the front row while I sit at the back! How would we get to know each other?"
He Zhengwei was the type who felt uncomfortable if he didn't receive a scholarship; he spent most of his time buried in the library or practice rooms. Yan Qing recalled that during their sophomore year, when He Zhengwei didn't receive a scholarship, he cried all night in the dorm. Before that incident, whenever Yan Qing stayed over, he would play video games late into the night, but afterward, he made it a point to go to bed early whenever he was in the dorm.
Fan Xiaonan commented, "That guy is quite a character!"
Qi Qiuluo laughed and said, "Not just any character; he's someone who would rather reveal his identity than risk being suspected by others!"
"Or maybe studying has made him a bit foolish," Tan Ming mused, slightly distracted.
Suddenly, He Zhengwei bumped into him while apologizing. "Sorry! I didn’t mean to hit you."
In the crowd, He Zhengwei had been walking with his head down and hadn’t noticed Tan Ming until it was too late; he accidentally brushed against Tan Ming's arm.
Tan Ming glanced at him but didn’t pay it much mind.
He Zhengwei caught up with him, saying, "Tan Ming, right? You're quite famous at school. I'm He Zhengwei. I've seen you here several times. Are you here to watch the performance too?"
Tan Ming wasn't interested in chatting and simply shook his head. However, as he was leaving, he noticed He Zhengwei's eager gaze fixed on the stage, illuminated by the spotlight, focusing on the person behind the scenes. That look was all too familiar to Tan Ming.
Lost in thought for a moment, he stepped outside, and a gust of cold wind swept into his coat. He pulled his clothes tighter around him and lowered his head to glance at his shadow cast by the streetlight.
As everyone chatted excitedly, Qi Qiuluo was still sharing her dating experiences with Yan Qing. She spoke with the confidence of an expert in this area.
"Listen, Yan Qing," Qi Qiuluo advised, "when you're dating, never snoop through your partner's phone. It never ends well if you do."
She continued, "It's better to stay oblivious; as long as no one exposes the truth, things can last longer."
Ling Xingyuan, who had been silent until now, finally joined the conversation. "If I found out my partner had ulterior motives, I'd kick them to the curb without hesitation."
Fan Xiaonan persisted in questioning him, curious about how his stubborn nature managed to win Liu Xuanzhu over into a relationship.
