Han Jincheng's breathing became rapid, her chest rising and falling slightly, her cheeks flushed like ripe apples, vibrant and alluring. Mu Yunze looked at her shy demeanor, and his smile deepened. He reached out, gently stroking her hair, and said softly, "Alright, I won’t tease you anymore."
He released his hold on Han Jincheng's shoulders and took a step back, creating some distance between them. The playful glint in his eyes gradually faded, replaced by a genuine sense of gratitude. "Thank you for helping me out."
Han Jincheng lowered her head, her hands nervously twisting together as she quietly replied, "Actually, you don’t have to..."
"I know," Mu Yunze interrupted her with a light tone laced with teasing. However, seeing Zhao Qing's defeated expression was quite satisfying. A mischievous smile crept onto his lips, transforming him from the timid Mu Yunze into someone entirely different.
Han Jincheng stared at him in a daze, her gaze lingering on his face. His smile radiated confidence and charm, starkly contrasting the shy demeanor he had shown before. This sudden shift felt unfamiliar yet inexplicably captivating to her.
Her heart raced again, as if it might leap from her chest. Deep within her, something was quietly shifting; an inexplicable thrill began to ripple through her heart.
In the following days, Mu Yunze noticed that Han Jincheng always seemed to be around him. In the library, the cafeteria, even on the way back to the dormitory—he encountered her everywhere. Initially, he thought it was mere coincidence, but as it happened more frequently, he realized that she was doing it on purpose.
"Mu Yunze, let’s go watch a movie!" Han Jincheng appeared before him once more, waving two movie tickets.
Mu Yunze intended to decline but found himself unable to voice it when faced with Han Jincheng's hopeful gaze. "Alright then."
After watching the movie together, their relationship began to shift into something more nuanced. University life was rich and colorful; it wasn’t just about budding romance but also about academic pressures and the hustle of club activities. Mu Yunze joined the photography club in hopes of capturing the beauty of life through the lens while trying to divert his attention from Class Flower. During one club event, he met Chu Mohan.
Chu Mohan was the class representative—quietly beautiful with an ethereal grace that carried a hint of scholarly charm. Unlike Class Flower’s flamboyance or Han Jincheng’s fiery enthusiasm, she resembled an orchid in a secluded valley, quietly exuding a unique allure.
That day, the photography club organized an outing for outdoor shooting. With his camera slung over his shoulder, Mu Yunze captured the beauty of autumn landscapes. He spotted Chu Mohan standing alone beneath a maple tree; sunlight filtered through the mottled leaves and cast a golden halo around her. At that moment, Mu Yunze felt his heart skip a beat as he raised his camera to capture this beautiful moment.
"That looks great," a gentle voice chimed in beside him.
