Mu Yunze let out a cold laugh. "You’re already a college student, and you still say you don’t understand? Are you trying to fool me?"
"I really know I was wrong," Class Flower cried, tears streaming down her face. "Please, give me another chance. I promise I will change."
"Change?" Mu Yunze scoffed, curling his lip. "A dog can’t change its nature. A woman like you? How could you possibly change?"
With that, Mu Yunze turned and left, leaving Class Flower alone in her tears.
After leaving Class Flower behind, Mu Yunze wandered aimlessly through the campus, a tumult of complex emotions swirling in his chest. Disgust, disdain, and a hint of an inexplicable thrill mixed together.
He had never imagined he would use such sharp words to attack a girl, especially one like Class Flower, who had once captivated his thoughts. But those words had erupted from him like a long-dormant volcano, once unleashed, they were uncontrollable.
He kicked a small stone at his feet with force, watching it roll away like the chaotic thoughts in his mind. He needed to calm down and think about what to do next.
Han Jincheng's gentleness and Chu Mohan's understanding were like two beams of light illuminating his dark world. Yet, Class Flower's appearance had plunged him into confusion.
As he approached the basketball court, the noise pulled him back to reality. He looked up and was met with an unpleasant sight: Qin Shaoming, that rich second-generation kid, was clinging to Han Jincheng.
He held a bouquet of flowers in his hand, wearing a self-satisfied grin as he chattered away. Han Jincheng looked visibly annoyed, constantly trying to evade him.
Qin Shaoming's nauseatingly smug face was plastered with smiles as if Han Jincheng accepting his flowers was the greatest honor imaginable. "I knew you wouldn’t refuse me," he said as he reached out to put his arm around Han Jincheng's shoulders.
Han Jincheng deftly sidestepped him, wearing a polite smile that contrasted sharply with her icy gaze. "Thank you for the flowers, Qin Shao." She emphasized the word "flowers," as if reminding Qin Shaoming that she accepted only the flowers and not him.
From a distance, Mu Yunze witnessed it all unfold. He thought Han Jincheng would rush over to him as usual upon seeing him, flitting around like a happy little bird.
But today was different; she didn’t come over at all and instead accepted Qin Shaoming's flowers. A sour taste filled his heart, twisting his insides painfully.
Qin Shaoming's frivolous actions ignited a fire within Mu Yunze. An inexplicable bitterness churned in his chest. He clenched his fists until his knuckles turned white, wishing he could rush over and punch Qin Shaoming. But reason told him not to act impulsively. Taking a deep breath, he turned away and left with a desolate figure.
Mu Yunze dragged his heavy steps back to the dormitory and collapsed into a chair, feeling utterly drained. Being rejected by both Han Jincheng and Chu Mohan felt like two heavy blows striking at his heart. He buried his face in his hands and groaned in pain.
"What’s wrong with you, bro? You look like someone just died," his roommate Kong Haoyu asked nonchalantly while playing a game.
Mu Yunze weakly waved him off; he didn’t want to talk about anything right now—he just wanted some quiet time alone.
"Didn’t get your confession right?" Kong Haoyu put down the game controller and leaned closer with a mischievous grin. "I told you! Chasing two girls at once? You were bound to crash."
Mu Yunze shot him an irritated glare and replied exasperatedly, "Can you just shut up?"
"Oh wow! Looks like I hit the nail on the head." Kong Haoyu laughed gleefully. "Come on, tell me which girl rejected you!"
"Both of them rejected me," Mu Yunze said weakly.
"Damn! Impressive, bro!" Kong Haoyu couldn't help but curse. "You’re really something else—getting rejected by two girls at once! That takes some serious talent!"
