He hesitated before speaking, his tone tinged with a hint of grievance, like a big boy who had been wronged.
"It was given to me by Chen Yichen," Chu Mohan admitted, noticing Mu Yunze's expression change again. She quickly added, "I turned him down! I told you, we’re not suited for each other."
"Really?" Mu Yunze's eyes lit up, sparkling like stars in the night sky.
"Really!" Chu Mohan nodded firmly, a trace of helplessness in her voice. "Why would I lie to you?"
Only then did Mu Yunze completely relax, the corners of his mouth lifting into a radiant smile. He gazed at Chu Mohan with intense and affectionate eyes, as if he wanted to draw her entire being into him.
Chu Mohan felt a bit uncomfortable under his gaze; her cheeks flushed slightly as she lowered her eyelids and softly murmured an acknowledgment.
"Chu Mohan," Mu Yunze called her name gently, his voice deep and magnetic.
Her heart skipped a beat. She looked up to meet Mu Yunze's profound gaze, momentarily lost in it.
Unable to suppress his inner impulses any longer, Mu Yunze reached out and gently caressed Chu Mohan's cheek. The delicate and soft touch of his fingertips sent ripples through him.
Chu Mohan shivered slightly but did not pull away. She felt the warmth of Mu Yunze's palm, a sweet current flowing through her heart.
"Chu Mohan," he called her name again, filled with tenderness.
He slowly lowered his head, leaning closer to her lips, their breaths intertwining as they could feel each other's heartbeats.
Just as their lips were about to touch, Mu Yunze suddenly stopped. He gazed deeply into Chu Mohan's eyes, filled with love.
"Chu Mohan, I like you," he whispered softly, his tone so gentle it seemed as if it could drip with water.
Chu Mohan's heart raced. She closed her eyes, feeling Mu Yunze's breath and gently nodded.
"I do too," she replied softly. Though her voice was light, it was resolute.
Mu Yunze could no longer contain his feelings; he pulled Chu Mohan into his embrace tightly, as if he wanted to meld her into himself.
At first, Chu Mohan was taken aback but soon wrapped her arms around him tightly in return.
Everything around them seemed to freeze; only the sound of their heartbeats echoed in their ears.
Mu Yunze greedily inhaled the fragrance from Chu Mohan’s hair, feeling her warmth enveloping him. An indescribable sense of happiness surged within him.
He had waited too long for this moment.
Nestled in Mu Yunze's embrace, Chu Mohan felt the warmth surrounding her, filled with sweetness and a sense of security.
