Qin Lanlan dragged me outside. Suddenly, Yan Chengcheng burst out from a corner and pulled me away.
"Yan Chengcheng, what are you doing?"
Yan Chengcheng was surprisingly strong, and with Qin Lanlan having drunk quite a bit, she couldn't overpower me at all. Leaning against the wall, she pointed at Yan Chengcheng and shouted, "You heartless one! If it weren't for me, would you be where you are today? Would you even be adopted?"
"Did Mom and Dad get into a car accident just to buy you medicine?"
"Yan Chengcheng, you've ruined my life! You wretched person."
Yan Chengcheng's expression remained impassive. "Sister, after all these years, I've already repaid what I owed."
"I voluntarily gave up my chance to be adopted for you."
"You sent me to the Ye Family to help you keep an eye on Shang Haoran, and I did that."
"You made me drink so much alcohol that I almost bled from my stomach, and I did that too."
"Sister, all these years, how have you seen me?"
"I'm an orphan, but I'm still a person."
For the first time, Yan Chengcheng fought back, catching Qin Lanlan off guard.
"You... you..."
Yan Chengcheng set me down on a nearby bench and gently stroked my hair. "Sister, I like Shang Haoran. I want to protect him."
"What do you want to do?" Qin Lanlan panicked.
Yan Chengcheng smiled. "Sister, I don't want to do anything. I just don't want you to hurt the person I care about."
"He is my student and also my family."
"I won't allow anyone to harm him, not even you."
"You wretched girl! You dare oppose me?"
Qin Lanlan raised her hand as if to strike Yan Chengcheng.
Before the slap could land, my wrist was seized by someone.
I stood up and looked at Yan Chengcheng, a smile curling at the corners of my mouth. “Xiao Yan Teacher, were you really planning to sell me if I didn’t come out?”
Yan Chengcheng stared at me, then glanced at the beautiful woman beside me, momentarily stunned. “Y-You’re not drunk?”
I yawned. “Of course I’m not drunk. That little bit of alcohol isn’t enough to get me there.”
“Y-You were pretending?” Yan Chengcheng asked in disbelief.
Qin Lanlan also caught on. “Did you two team up to trick me?”
I laughed. “Trick you?”
“Qin Lanlan, do I really need to list all the things you’ve done over the years?”
Qin Lanlan’s face turned pale. “W-What do you mean?”
I held Yan Chengcheng’s hand and looked at Qin Lanlan. “You’ve been taking bribes from executives at the company. I’ve already handed the evidence to the lawyer.”
“Do you think I don’t know how you’ve deceived Yan Chengcheng all these years?”
Qin Lanlan panicked. “W-What are you talking about? I don’t understand.”
I sneered. “Don’t understand? Let me make it clear for you.”
“Back then, Yan Chengcheng’s parents didn’t have that accident just to buy you medicine.”
“It was because you stole something, and they had to clean up your mess that they ended up in that accident.”
“How old were you back then? You learned to steal when you were just a teenager?”
“All these years, you’ve been living off Yan Chengcheng’s parents’ inheritance, yet this is how you treat her? Do you even have a conscience?”
“Shut up! Shut up!” Qin Lanlan went wild, lunging at me with clawed hands.
With a wave of my hand, seven or eight bodyguards emerged from the bar and restrained Qin Lanlan.
I held Yan Chengcheng’s hand tightly. “You owe no one anything.”
“You have always been the best.”
I pulled Yan Chengcheng outside, holding her hand tightly the entire way, afraid that she might accidentally slip away again. She felt shy and tried to free herself from my grip, but I held on firmly.
"Shang Haoran, let go! This isn't right," she protested.
