Song Bunan declared that Lin Ling could become the most stubborn person in his heart. 0

After a brief lunch break, Song Bunan declined the other nurses' requests to help lighten their workload in the wards and chose to fulfill his promise to accompany Xin Yi instead. He held two cups of milk tea, doubled by Xiao Mei's mysterious appearance, and after much thought, decided to give the unsweetened one to Xin Yi. 0

As he pushed the door open, he found Lin Ling already sitting at the table beside Xin Yi, leaving no seat for him in the room. The other two doctors looked up at him in confusion, silently questioning why a nurse would enter the consultation room. Song Bunan stood awkwardly at the door, his nose itching but with no hands free to rub it. 0

Xin Yi, who had been writing something with his head down, looked up at the sound of Song Bunan's sneeze and naturally walked over to pull him beside him. Only then did he notice an empty stool positioned against the wall next to Xin Yi's chair, clearly left for him. 0

“Sit inside and help me take notes,” Xin Yi said without even asking what he was carrying, directly taking a cup and starting to drink. Under the unfriendly gazes of the two doctors in front of him, Song Bunan obediently sat down and picked up his notebook to see what he needed to record. Of course, he ignored Lin Ling's piercing glare directed at him. 0

The consultation records that Xin Yi wrote were very concise, clearly outlining the patient's condition with brief notes and blending his judgments with suggestions from other doctors into a document that even an elementary school student could understand. It made the patient's situation and subsequent treatment methods clear at a glance. 0

Aside from the neat handwriting, Song Bunan couldn't tell that this was written by someone who wasn't a professional doctor. He began to suspect that Xin Yi had previously worked in a similar role at Mighty Falcon, perhaps as a mental health support specialist or something similar. 0

After reading through it, Song Bunan leaned closer to Xin Yi and whispered in disbelief, “You saw six patients this morning?” Faced with the nonchalant expression of the faux doctor beside him, he couldn't help but gasp in surprise and then asked if Xin Yi had ever worked in this field before, how could he be so skilled? 0

“I just reviewed the materials sent by Shui Su,” Xin Yi replied. Song Bunan recalled those documents shared in their group chat; the only one he remembered was over eight hundred pages long. When he quickly scrolled through it for a preview, he could count on his fingers how many images there were. Xin Yi's statement implied that he had memorized all of its contents. 0

Song Bunan took a big sip of milk tea to fuel his heart, preventing it from feeling like a failure and shutting down. 0

“Creak—” The door opened, revealing a young woman with a delicate but somewhat sickly appearance. Her long black hair lacked luster and hung messily around her shoulders; dark circles under her eyes gave her an expression devoid of vitality. She shuffled her feet over to Xin Yi's desk and handed over her medical record with an extremely faint voice. 0

“ Doctor Xiao, Doctor Qin next door asked me to find you here.” The woman hunched over as she spoke weakly, without even a companion by her side. 0

The Doctor Qin she mentioned was likely Xiao Mei; his alias was Qin Yu. Xin Yi gestured for her to sit down and speak but noticed that the medical record described a male patient. The symptoms were written in flamboyant characters, and Song Bunan caught a fleeting look of shock on Xin Yi’s face as he quickly scanned it; he knew then that he wasn't the only one who couldn't understand. 0

However, Xin Yi was only momentarily affected; he opened his mouth to ask, “Why didn’t you bring the patient?” Upon hearing this question, the woman finally lifted her head. A deep sense of unease suddenly appeared in her lifeless eyes; she involuntarily shivered and nervously fidgeted with the edge of her clothing. After much mental preparation, she finally began to speak. 0

"I'm sorry, my husband... he can't go outside right now." The woman's voice trembled as she spoke, seemingly recalling something terrifying. "During the day, he becomes extremely irritable when exposed to light. He doesn't talk or listen to anyone. Even the sound of a car horn can set him off. He suddenly starts smashing things, and if I get too close, he screams at me. At night, he hardly sleeps at all; he just crouches in a corner, talking to himself about how he doesn't like this body and wants to find a strong young man outside." 0

As she reached this point, tears streamed down her face, each drop hitting her hand. Xin Yi handed her some tissue and water, signaling that she could take her time. The woman gulped down the water and took deep breaths for a while before calming down. She awkwardly looked up at them, forcing a smile that was twisted by pain. 0

"The medical records indicate that he has been hospitalized once before. Why not consider admitting him again?" Xin Yi continued to ask questions in a professional manner, unaffected by her distress. 0

The woman sighed and lowered her head, her tone becoming numb. "Doctor, I can't help it. He is my husband. Before he got sick, he treated me so well; whenever there was a problem in life, he made me feel like I married the right person. Now I feel so conflicted. I know that admitting him would help a lot, but I can't bear to do it. Besides, he won't listen to anyone right now. If there's a third person in the house, he becomes extremely aggressive; even the delivery man has been attacked." 0

Song Bunan took notes in the same manner as Xin Yi, feeling regretful about the situation. From the woman's description, it was clear that her husband had undergone a soul exchange in the laboratory; no one could know whose soul now resided in that body. His irritable and aggressive behavior was likely a rejection reaction due to an unsuccessful fusion. 0

He wanted to meet this person; perhaps if he saw that the man's original soul was still there, he could help him return to normal. But for now, he couldn't do that—along with Lin Ling, the three doctors present were all from the laboratory. He could only watch the woman with pity and sigh inwardly. 0

Xin Yi remained remarkably calm as he wrote a lengthy note in the medical record. Without waiting for Song Bunan to read it clearly, he handed it back to the woman and said, "Your husband's schizophrenia is more severe than when it was first diagnosed. My suggestion is to seek professional help to bring him to the hospital; it would be much easier for both treatment and care. It's natural to feel reluctant, but once he's admitted, you can apply for accompanying treatment so you won't have to worry about being apart for too long." 0

His words were delivered steadily and reassuringly; upon hearing about accompanying treatment, a glimmer of hope appeared in the woman's eyes. She took the medical record and sobbed as she asked about her husband's chances of recovery. This was an unknown factor. Song Bunan thought this while Xin Yi answered directly. 0

"He still has hope if he actively cooperates with treatment." 0

Though it was quite slim. Song Bunan shook his head helplessly, mentally labeling the woman as pitiable. It was clear she understood the implications behind those words; gripping the medical record tightly with a sorrowful expression, she said nothing more but stood up slightly and bowed in thanks before stumbling out. 0

The others paid no attention at all, appearing accustomed to such scenes. Only after finishing his notes did Song Bunan feel Xin Yi gently pat his shoulder; looking up, he met Xin Yi's concerned gaze. 0

"Don't take it too hard," a message popped up on his phone from Xin Yi. "Those with sick family members often feel helpless. If you're feeling upset, you should take a break." 0

This overflowing concern struck Song Bunan deeply; he licked his dry lips and felt clearly that Xin Yi's attitude towards him was closer than towards others—perhaps even more ambiguous. 0

Song Bunan had never been in a romantic relationship, but he was absolutely confident in his ability to judge feelings. He fully embraced the affection shown by Xin Yi, with both his mind and heart rejoicing at the thought that the other person liked him too. This was no longer a crush sparked by shared interests; it would naturally evolve into love when they both decided to break the ice. 0

Perhaps it was the obviousness of his reaction to being cared for that made Song Bunan feel a rush of excitement wash over him. He pressed himself against the wall, discreetly using his iced milk tea to cool down his flushed face. Fortunately, Xin Yi was focused on the medical records and didn’t notice his reaction. 0

If it weren’t for the crowd around them, he would have screamed with excitement and rolled around on the floor. 0

After finally calming himself down, Song Bunan sat up straight, waiting for the next patient to arrive. It was then he realized just how close he was sitting to Xin Yi; their arms were nearly touching. He could feel Xin Yi's higher body temperature through the fabric, along with a faint scent of soap from him. A memory suddenly surfaced in his mind: that morning, after waking up and holding a cup of water, he had seen Xin Yi washing his face with a light blue translucent soap. It smelled wonderful. 0

Help. This inexplicable detail struck right at the heart of Song Bunan’s ideal type, and he added another ten points to Xin Yi’s score in his mind. 0

However, it was strange that no patients or family members had entered their consultation room in the two hours since that woman left; the two doctors in front had already started playing games openly. Once Song Bunan's mood stabilized completely, he turned his gaze toward Xin Yi's cup as he finished his milk tea. 0

It seemed like Xin Yi had only taken a couple of sips. Song Bunan smacked his lips and poked Xin Yi’s arm gently, asking in a low voice if he still wanted his milk tea. He was fully aware of how sincere his expression was; if it could be materialized, it would read: "Give me your milk tea." 0

Xin Yi understood his intention and lifted the lid, indicating that he could drink it if he wanted. Song Bunan happily accepted this offer, inserting his straw and savoring the drink. Meanwhile, Xin Yi had clearly immersed himself in his role as a doctor, intently browsing through various patient reports on the computer without looking away. Not wanting to disturb him, Song Bunan decided to play on his phone instead, choosing to go wild in a group chat without Xin Yi. 0

Suddenly, a friend request popped up. He opened it to see a beautiful profile picture with the nickname Ling. Habitually clicking on the profile picture, he realized it belonged to Lin Ling from the next table. 0

Cautiously glancing over at her, he noticed she was just as serious as Xin Yi, her expression neutral. After accepting her request, he saw her lips curve into a slight smile before quickly returning to their original position. 0

"Are you showing off?" she asked bluntly. 0
