Ji Chuan's expression changed instantly as he noticed. 0
"Qin Qin, Yao Yao likes to joke around with me, so don’t take it seriously." 0
"I know, let’s go." I clenched my fists tightly, digging my nails into my palms, desperately trying to hold back. 0
No, not now. I have to endure. 0

After wandering around IKEA for less than half an hour, Feng Yao called again. 0
This time, Ji Chuan didn’t step away from me. 0
"A Chuan, my stomach still hurts a lot. Can you come keep me company?" 0
"Yao Yao, I'm currently helping Qin Qin pick out things for the baby. Try to drink some warm water." 0
Ji Chuan rejected Feng Yao; it was the first time he hadn’t chosen her. 0

Feng Yao on the other end of the line must have said something else because Ji Chuan hung up shortly after. 0
It was clear that he was starting to become distracted. 0
"Ji Chuan, come look at this crib." 0
I stopped in front of a solid wood baby crib. 0
He glanced at it and reached out to touch it; there were no splinters at all. 0
"This one looks very safe, simple and elegant. The baby will definitely be comfortable sleeping in it." 0
Ji Chuan looked at me gently. 0
"Then let’s buy this crib." 0

I prepared to pay when the clerk asked, "Ma'am, will you be assembling it yourself or would you like our workers to install it?" 0
I looked at Ji Chuan. "Ji Chuan, do you have time after work recently? I want you to assemble the baby's crib yourself." 0
"Of course! This is our baby's crib; even if I have to stay up late, I’ll make sure it's assembled perfectly." 0

After saying that, he gently took my hand, and I struggled not to pull away. 0
"Ji Chuan, thank you!" 0

After selecting the crib, Ji Chuan accompanied me to choose some baby supplies like bottles and clothes. 0

He carefully selected each item, afraid of missing something. Watching Ji Chuan's serious demeanor, it seemed he truly cared for me and the baby. However, that didn't stop him from checking his phone for "what to do if stomach pain is severe" while accompanying me to buy things for the baby. 0

He quickly edited the information he found and sent it to Feng Yao, reminding her, "Don't eat anything too spicy if your stomach hurts. I know you love spicy food; once you're better, I'll take you out." 0

"Are you feeling any better? I ordered some congee for you; drink a bit first." 0

"If it gets worse, you should go see a doctor." 0

Feng Yao's reply came back immediately. "I'm feeling really miserable alone, A Chuan. Can you come keep me company?" 0

"I'm still with Qin Qin buying things for the baby; just wait a bit," Ji Chuan replied. 0

"Then hurry up; I'm waiting for you." 0

She was eager to pull Ji Chuan away from me. Ji Chuan seemed to enjoy her occasional vulnerability, which stirred his protective instincts. The carefree girl appeared small and helpless at that moment, wrapping around Ji Chuan's heart like a vine. 0

What could have been a concluded conversation continued as Ji Chuan replied again, "Wait for me; I'll be there soon." He was anxious to leave. 0

"Qin Qin, let me take you home first. There's an urgent matter at the company that I need to handle right away." He didn’t even bother to change his excuse. 0

I watched him closely, feeling a heaviness in my heart, and eventually nodded in agreement. 0

After returning home, I stood by the window and watched him drive away. 0

I lay on the bed, closed my eyes, and silent tears began to fall. 0

The sound of a "ding-dong" echoed, followed by another and another. I opened my phone to find messages from an unfamiliar profile. One photo after another slowly scrolled across the screen, each one causing my heart to ache more intensely. I gripped my phone tightly, my fingers trembling as I saved each photo one by one. 0
