"Fate? I think you're just a lingering ghost!" Lin Hao couldn't help but speak up, his tone laced with evident hostility.
Zhang Tianming shot a glance at Lin Hao and replied sarcastically, "And who might this be? Dai Xinyi, aren't you going to introduce him?"
Dai Xinyi, unwilling to engage with Zhang Tianming, grabbed Lin Hao's arm and tried to leave. "Let's go."
However, Zhang Tianming blocked their path, a provocative look on his face as he stared at Lin Hao. "What's wrong? Afraid to introduce her? Worried I might find out what your relationship with Dai Xinyi is?"
Lin Hao let out a cold laugh. "I'm her boyfriend. What's the problem with that?"
Zhang Tianming exaggeratedly gasped, then feigned realization. "Oh, so you're the boyfriend! I thought you were just some little face trying to sneak in. Dai Xinyi, you need to be careful; there are too many scumbags around these days."
Lin Hao's fists clenched tightly, cracking ominously. If it weren't for Dai Xinyi holding him back, he would have loved to punch this hypocritical guy right in the face.
Dai Xinyi took a deep breath and glared coldly at Zhang Tianming. "Zhang Tianming, what exactly do you want?"
Zhang Tianming put on a sorrowful expression. "Dai Xinyi, I'm just worried you're being deceived. You're too naive and easily swayed by sweet words. Just look at this little face; he clearly isn't a good person."
"Shut your mouth!" Dai Xinyi shouted angrily. "What right do you have to talk about others? You're nothing but a complete fraud! You used my feelings for your own gain; you're the real scumbag!"
Zhang Tianming was taken aback by Dai Xinyi's fury; he never expected the usually gentle Dai Xinyi would say such things. He paused for a moment before adopting a pitiful expression again. "Dai Xinyi, I know you're still angry with me, but I truly regret what happened at the wedding. I was impulsive and made a foolish mistake. Can you forgive me? Let's start over, okay?"
Dai Xinyi scoffed. "Start over? Do you think I'm an idiot? I won't fall for your lies again. Give up on that idea!"
Zhang Tianming wanted to say more, but Lin Hao pushed him aside protectively and said to Dai Xinyi, "Let's go."
The two left the cinema, leaving Zhang Tianming standing alone with a dark expression on his face. He couldn't believe how heartless Dai Xinyi was being and was even more shocked by how fiercely Lin Hao defended her. A strong sense of jealousy and anger burned within him as he silently vowed to win Dai Xinyi back and make Lin Hao pay!
In the following days, Zhang Tianming intensified his harassment of Dai Xinyi, even stalking her during her commute and monitoring her every move. Unable to bear it any longer, Dai Xinyi reported him to the police. The officers warned Zhang Tianming but did not impose any substantial punishment.
One night, after work, Dai Xinyi returned home only to find Zhang Tianming waiting for her at her doorstep.
"Dai Xinyi, we need to talk," Zhang Tianming said darkly, a hint of madness in his eyes.
Dai Xinyi felt a chill run down her spine and instinctively took a few steps back. "What do you want?"
Zhang Tianming advanced toward her step by step, a sinister smile spreading across his face. "Dai Xinyi, if you can't have him, then no one else will!"
