Lin Hao sensed something unusual about Dai Xinyi and followed her gaze, his brow slightly furrowing. "Dai Xinyi, who is this?"
Dai Xinyi's lips moved, but she momentarily struggled to find the right words. The appearance of Zhao Shanhe instantly plunged her previously lighthearted mood into despair. She instinctively tightened her grip on Lin Hao's hand, as if that could provide her with a semblance of security.
Seeing this, Zhao Shanhe's smile grew even more contemptuous. "What’s wrong? Not going to introduce us? Is this your new flame? Tsk tsk, Miss Dai, your taste is truly unique. Just a few days ago, you were crying and begging your ex-fiancé to take you back, and now you've already moved on to a new man. Talk about speed!"
Lin Hao's expression darkened. Although he didn't know who Zhao Shanhe was, he could guess a few things from his words. "Sir, please speak respectfully."
Zhao Shanhe shot Lin Hao a disdainful glance. "Respect? Who do you think you are? Do you know how Miss Dai plays with men? Her ex-fiancé, Ke Wenbo, is still hiding away nursing his wounds because of her! You’re just a distraction for her loneliness!"
Dai Xinyi could no longer hold back; she abruptly stood up and pointed at Zhao Shanhe, shouting, "You’re talking nonsense! What happens between Wenbo and me has nothing to do with you! What right do you have to speak here?"
Zhao Shanhe sneered. "What’s wrong? Did I hit a nerve? Let me tell you, my brother Zhang Tianming is still in jail! He’s still thinking about you while you’re here flirting with another man. How can you face him?"
"Zhang Tianming? Is he the one who harassed you a while back?" Lin Hao looked at Dai Xinyi in confusion.
Dai Xinyi took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down. "Yes..."
Zhao Shanhe laughed as if he had heard the funniest joke. "Harassed? Miss Dai, you really know how to joke! You caused him so much trouble—running away from your wedding because of him—and now you say he harassed you? Doesn’t your conscience hurt?"
Lin Hao's expression grew increasingly grim as he felt himself caught in an inexplicable conflict. He held Dai Xinyi's hand tightly, trying to give her strength. "Dai Xinyi, what’s going on? Can you tell me? He said you ran away from the wedding for that Zhang Tianming—what’s that about?"
Dai Xinyi took another deep breath, suppressing the surging anger within her and striving to remain calm. "Lin Hao, let’s go." She didn’t want to get entangled with Zhao Shanhe any longer; this man’s filthy words only served to aggravate her.
However, Lin Hao remained rooted in place, his gaze fixed intently on Zhao Shanhe. "You just said that Dai Xinyi ran away from her wedding for this Zhang Tianming—what exactly happened?" He needed an explanation—a reasonable one.
Seeing Lin Hao's determination to get to the bottom of things, Zhao Shanhe felt a surge of delight; it seemed there would be entertainment today. "Oh, you want to know? Then let Miss Dai tell you herself! Let’s see how she abandoned her fiancé for a scumbag and how she made her fiancé suffer so badly!"
