My name is Wu Junhui. You may not know me, but I am Zhang Tianming's ex-girlfriend, and I believe that name rings a bell for you. Wu Junhui cast a flirtatious glance, a playful smile dancing on her lips.
Zhang Tianming? Li Wenbo's heart skipped a beat; the name pierced him like a thorn. It was this man who had ruined his wedding and turned him into a laughingstock.
"What do you want?" Li Wenbo's tone was cold. He held no fondness for this woman, and there was an undercurrent of hostility in his demeanor.
"Don't be so cold, handsome," Wu Junhui pouted playfully, her fingers painted with bright red nail polish lightly twirling a lock of her curly hair that hung over her chest. "I'm feeling down today too and thought I'd find someone to share a drink with. I saw you here drowning your sorrows alone. We’re both lost souls in this world, aren't we?"
Li Wenbo snorted dismissively, refusing to engage. Lost souls? This woman had been dumped by Zhang Tianming, while he had been played by both Zhang Tianming and Dai Xinyi—two completely different situations. His resentment towards Zhang Tianming and Dai Xinyi grew like wild weeds; how could he possibly sympathize with this woman?
Wu Junhui seemed to see through his thoughts. She sighed softly and said, "I know you're still angry at Zhang Tianming. Honestly, I'm a victim too. That guy puts on one face in public and another behind closed doors. He led me on, only to kick me aside for Dai Xinyi in the end."
Li Wenbo's heart stirred. Could it be that this woman was just like him, deceived by Zhang Tianming? He scrutinized Wu Junhui, searching for any sign of deceit on her face. Yet her expression was sincere; her eyes even glistened with unshed tears, as if she had truly suffered.
"How did he deceive you?" Li Wenbo found himself asking, his tone softening slightly.
Wu Junhui gave a bitter smile and shook her head, pouring herself another drink and downing it in one go. "It's a long story, but to put it simply, he pretended to be deeply in love and played the victim. He was just toying with me while setting his sights on Dai Xinyi! That silly girl really fell for his tricks and even ran away from the wedding!"
"Come on, handsome, stop thinking about it. Let's drink!" Wu Junhui raised her glass, interrupting Li Wenbo's thoughts. "For the scumbag and the shameless girl—it’s not worth it!"
Li Wenbo mechanically lifted his glass and clinked it against hers before downing the contents in one gulp. The fiery liquid slid down his throat like flames, igniting a dull ache deep within him.
After a few drinks, Li Wenbo's defenses began to fade. He started to share his frustrations with Wu Junhui—everything from the wedding preparations to Dai Xinyi's runaway act—pouring out all the details without holding back.
Wu Junhui listened patiently, occasionally offering words of comfort and joining him in cursing Zhang Tianming and Dai Xinyi.
"How could they be so heartless?" Li Wenbo exclaimed as the alcohol fueled his emotions. He grasped Wu Junhui's hand tightly. "I put so much effort into this wedding! And what did they do? They teamed up to pull off this farce! I felt like a clown being played for laughs!"
Wu Junhui's gaze flickered as she gently patted the back of Li Wenbo's hand, speaking softly: "I know you're hurting, but what's done is done. No amount of sorrow will change anything now. It's better to look ahead—forget them and start anew."
"Start anew?" Li Wenbo chuckled bitterly at the thought. "It's easy to say that; it’s not so simple! Right now, I feel like a joke—everywhere I go, people are pointing fingers at me. How can I face a new beginning?"
