Zhao Shanhe stood by the bed, completely naked and in disarray, his eyes filled with fear and despair. Before he could utter a word, two police officers had him firmly pinned to the ground.
"Ah! What are you doing? Let me go!" Zhao Shanhe struggled desperately, howling like a trapped beast.
Dai Xinyi calmly sat up in bed, wrapping herself tightly in a towel. With a cold and unwavering gaze, she pointed at Zhao Shanhe and said, "It was him. He raped me."
Pinned to the ground and unable to move, Zhao Shanhe's face turned red as he shouted in a hoarse voice, "I didn't! She wanted it! She seduced me! It was her!"
One of the officers barked back, "Shut up! Save your words for the station!"
Ignoring Zhao Shanhe's protests, the police expertly cuffed him and dragged him to his feet, escorting him toward the door. Zhao Shanhe struggled and cursed all the way, but it was futile.
Dai Xinyi silently picked up her clothes from the floor, putting them on one by one. Her movements were slow and mechanical, like a soulless puppet. She paid no attention to Zhao Shanhe's shouting or the officers' inquiries; she simply dressed quietly and followed them out of the room.
In the corridor, Zhao Shanhe continued to yell, his voice growing fainter and more distant. Dai Xinyi held her head high, her back straightened, her gaze resolute as she walked forward, as if determined to shed everything from her past and start anew. She stepped out of the hotel, leaving behind the shadows and stepping into the sunlight.
At the police station, Dai Xinyi faced a Female Officer. She struggled to maintain her composure, but her voice trembled slightly as she recounted what had happened. She poured out her inner fears, despair, and anger as tears streamed down her face. To support her claims, Dai Xinyi provided key evidence: bodily fluids left on her by Zhao Shanhe.
Faced with irrefutable evidence, Zhao Shanhe's defenses crumbled. He initially denied everything, claiming that Dai Xinyi had consented; then he accused her of seducing him; finally, he resorted to cursing her, saying she was framing him. Yet in light of the solid proof against him, all his arguments seemed weak and absurd. The police ultimately arrested Zhao Shanhe on charges of rape, awaiting severe legal consequences.
As Dai Xinyi stepped out of the police station, she took a deep breath, feeling the cool night breeze brush against her skin. The streetlights cast a warm glow upon her, as if draping her in a golden veil.
She looked up at the night sky filled with twinkling stars that sparkled with hope. She knew that this nightmare had finally come to an end; she had escaped Zhao Shanhe's grasp and sought justice for herself.
In the days that followed, Dai Xinyi resigned from her job and planned to leave this city that had caused her so much pain. However, thoughts of Lin Hao lingered in her mind. She needed closure—a final goodbye. Dialing Lin Hao's number, she spoke in a calm tone that betrayed no emotion: "Lin Hao, let's meet one last time."
When Lin Hao received the call, he was staring blankly at his computer screen. He had heard about Zhao Shanhe's incident and felt a mix of emotions swirling within him. He didn't know how to face this woman who had gone through such turmoil.
They agreed to meet at a café. When Dai Xinyi arrived, Lin Hao was already there waiting for her. He looked somewhat haggard, fatigue evident in his eyes. Upon seeing Dai Xinyi, he opened his mouth as if to say something but hesitated.
Dai Xinyi didn't give him a chance to speak; she delivered a sharp slap across Lin Hao's face. Her voice was cold and devoid of any emotion as she said, "That slap is for your cowardice! You’re just like me—a bastard unworthy of love!"
