At seven in the morning, in the office of the President of Su Group.
"Would you like some coffee?" the AI assistant's voice chimed.
Su Wenxin rubbed her temples. "Switch to tea."
"Sure, I recommend the... Pure Mystic Temple's special calming tea."
"......"
Su Wenxin stared at the brand logo displayed on the smart teapot. "Have you been bribed?"
"Not at all," the AI cheerfully replied. "It's just that the data shows this tea is best suited for your current state. Plus, it really is a product of Pure Mystic Temple."
Su Wenxin: "... Shut up."
The tea was indeed good, but she had no time to savor it. A copy of an ancient text lay spread out on her desk.
"Three Fates on the Same Path, should be today..." she murmured to herself, "what does that even mean?"
Suddenly, her phone buzzed. It was a message from Ao Tian:
【Are you there?】
【I found something interesting】
【Want to come take a look? [dog head]】
Su Wenxin replied: 【Is it important?】
【Absolutely!】
【It’s related to keys】
【Brother Qing is already on his way [smirk]】
Su Wenxin: 【...】
【Address?】
【Pure Mystic Temple】
"Since we're here, why not pay a visit?"
In the Pure Mystic Temple, at the Cangjing Pavilion.
"So, this is what you call fun?" Su Wenxin looked at the scene before her.
Ao Tian was crouched on the ground, using a Game Controller-like artifact to scan the corner of the room.
"Don't rush," he said seriously, fiddling with the Game Controller. "It'll be ready soon."
Qing Chen stood nearby, expressionless. "Are you sure this will work?"
"Absolutely!" Ao Tian suddenly exclaimed, "I've found it!"
A beam of light suddenly illuminated the corner, revealing a hidden spatial entrance.
"This is..." Su Wenxin quickly analyzed the data. "A Spatial Layer?"
"Pretty much," Ao Tian said proudly, waving the Game Controller. "This treasure of mine is specifically designed to find such things."
Qing Chen replied, "So you usually use this to 'borrow' things?"
"That's unfair!" Ao Tian immediately waved his hands. "I'm conducting archaeological research!"
Su Wenxin interjected, "Isn't archaeology Qing Chen's specialty?"
"Uh..." Ao Tian shifted the topic. "Shall we go in and take a look?"
The entrance was small, requiring all three to bend down to enter. Inside was a modest chamber with ancient runes carved into the walls.
"These are..." Qing Chen examined closely. "Ancient Script?"
Su Wenxin had already begun scanning. "The energy fluctuations are quite peculiar; it seems to describe a ritual."
"Close enough," Ao Tian suddenly became serious. "Look here."
He pointed to a picture on the wall. It depicted three individuals holding different magical artifacts, seemingly engaged in some sort of ritual.
"The Three Fates on the Same Path..." Qing Chen pondered, "Is this the origin of the prophecy?"
Su Wenxin noticed the details in the image. "Wait, what they are holding is..."
"That's right." Ao Tian nodded. "A key, a mirror, and a..."
"Formation Disk," Qing Chen interjected. "The legendary Three Ancient Artifacts."
Suddenly, the runes on the wall began to glow faintly.
The three stepped back simultaneously.
"Don't be nervous," Ao Tian said. "I've studied this; it's a memory imprint."
Sure enough, the light from the runes coalesced into an image. An ancient voice echoed:
"Future generations, if you see this imprint, know the secret of the three artifacts."
"The key opens Heaven's Gate, the mirror reflects Eternal Ages, and the Formation Disk determines Qian Kun."
"When the three fates gather, their power will be revealed."
"Yet, the heavenly secrets are hard to predict; one must rely on Follow the Path of Fate..."
The image abruptly cut off.
"Is that it?" Ao Tian complained. "I searched for so long just to see this?"
Su Wenxin contemplated. "No, it's already quite valuable."
Qing Chen nodded. "That last phrase, ' Follow the Path of Fate,' indicates that this cannot be forced."
"So what now?" Ao Tian scratched his head. "Are we just going to wait?"
"Wait for what?" a strange voice suddenly interrupted. "To wait for death?"
The three of them suddenly turned around. The entrance to the secret chamber had been sealed without their notice, and a mass of black mist was slowly coalescing.
"Here we go again?" Ao Tian drew his sword. "Are we playing for real this time?"
A cold laugh echoed from the black mist. "Young man, you're too impatient."
Qing Chen's expression changed suddenly. "Be careful! This is not a remnant!"
Boom!
The entire chamber shook violently.
"We've gone too far!" Ao Tian shouted. "This place is going to collapse!"
Su Wenxin quickly analyzed, "The spatial structure is already unstable. If this continues..."
"There's no time!" Qing Chen suddenly grabbed the two of them. "Trust me!"
A flash of white light illuminated the room.
In the next moment, the three of them vanished from their spot.
From within the black mist came a meaningful chuckle: "Interesting... truly interesting..."
When the black mist dissipated, the chamber had completely collapsed. Yet, the patterns on the walls remained unscathed.
Three indistinct figures were forever frozen in that unfinished ritual.
