I began to speak loudly to the ghostly woman in the mirror.
"Your husband and his mistress conspired to kill you, didn't they? What good does it do to kill an innocent person like me? Why make the women who lived here before give birth to cursed children?"
My series of three rhetorical questions seemed to catch the ghost off guard, making her appear extremely stiff. After all, in her world, the human language system had long ceased to exist.
"You men... not a single one is worth a damn! You all deserve to die! Just as he stabbed me, I will stab you!"
So this was her reason for wanting to kill me—because I was a man living in this room, just like her husband.

I barely had time to think before the moment the woman in red stepped out of the mirror, I activated the soul-calling lamp beside me, igniting the Demon-Slaying Talisman, brandishing my Peach Wood Sword, and reciting the Exorcism Spell aloud.
" Tiangang Big Dipper, Breaking Evil Lamp, subdue ghosts and spirits, let all commands scatter!—Break!"
The ghostly woman let out a heart-wrenching scream filled with rage as she clawed at the air in fury.
" Supreme Platform Star, adapt without pause. Exorcise Evil and Bind Spirits, protect life and body, wisdom clear, mind peaceful. Three souls eternal, spirit unlost—hurry as commanded!"
After reciting the Exorcism Spell, I followed with Pure Heart Mantra, and suddenly her movements slowed down significantly.
Having awakened from my bed last night but distinctly remembering knocking on everyone's doors, I confirmed that I had indeed experienced an out-of-body experience while battling with the ghost.
I glanced at my body sitting upright in a chair against the wall and solidified this thought. If I failed in my duel with the ghost, my true death would not come from being physically cut down by her blade but rather from having my soul shattered and unable to return to my body—never waking again.
Understanding this point, I recited Pure Heart Mantra again to enhance my spiritual power and suppress the ghost's spirit strength. The ghost's movements slowed even further while I became more agile; now there was hope for me.
The female ghost was pinned down by Pure Heart Mantra, struggling to crawl towards me on the ground. As she bared her teeth, I noticed blood even seeping through the gaps in her teeth.
"My child! Give me back my child! Ah! Ah! I will kill you! I want you to die a terrible death!"
Watching her scream in agony, I felt a pang of sympathy for this woman who had been pregnant and murdered by her unfaithful husband. However, she should no longer remain in this world, especially not at the cost of innocent lives.
Just then, there was a sudden loud knocking on my door.
"Si Xianxi, why haven't you replied to my texts? You didn't respond yesterday either!"
Oh no! Because of the incident last night when I knocked on everyone's doors, it had taken all my attention away, and I had forgotten to tell He Xiaoyan that my phone signal had been down yesterday.

In that moment of distraction, as I stopped chanting Pure Heart Mantra's incantation, the female ghost swiftly grabbed a long knife and lunged at me.
I dodged just in time and reignited a Demon-Slaying Talisman, resuming the chant for Pure Heart Mantra. The ghost's movements slowed once more, becoming laborious.
As I contemplated my next move to completely subdue her, an eerie smile spread across the ghost's pale face. She was now crouched near the mirror, closer to the entrance. Slowly, she began to move towards the door.
"Hehe, I'm about to catch you all," she taunted.
Realizing her intentions too late to intervene, I watched as she swung the long knife towards the entrance. The gust of wind from the blade suddenly flung open the door of this end suite!
