"Assistant, pour me a cup of coffee." 0

Luke Dunphy didn’t even lift his eyelids, his long fingers tapping away at the keyboard. He was dressed in a deep gray tailored suit today, which made him appear even more cold and distant. 0

I stood still, "The coffee is right next to you, President." 0

Only then did he glance up, his gaze icy, "I want a new one." 0

Really... I took a deep breath and turned to get the coffee. It was only morning, and this was already the seventh cup. 0

Clearly, he was just messing with me. 0

As I reached the break room, I overheard whispers behind me. 0

"Isn't that the president's new flame?" 0

"Pfft, just a little star throwing herself at him." 0

"Apparently, they met at a party." 0

"Tsk, someone who climbs the ladder by relying on men..." 0

With a crash, the coffee cup shattered. 0

I turned around to see the woman who had been gossiping clutching her burned wrist, screaming, "You did that on purpose!" 0

"Did I?" I smiled lightly. "Do you need to go to the infirmary? Maybe ask Dr. Larry about the birth control pills you got from him last week—who were they for?" 0

Her face went pale instantly. 0

I returned to the office with a new cup of coffee only to find a glamorous woman sitting on Luke Dunphy's desk. 0

"Luke, your new assistant..." She frowned at me. "Doesn’t seem quite suitable, does she?" 0

Lynette Scavo. The daughter of the second-largest shareholder of Imperial Court Group and Luke Dunphy’s fiancée. 0

Hearing her affectionate "Luke," an inexplicable irritation welled up inside me. 0

But Luke Dunphy suddenly grasped my wrist and pulled me closer. "This is my personal assistant. What’s unsuitable about her?" 0

"But..." 0
"Enough," he interrupted her impatiently. "Didn't you say you had something urgent?" 0
Lynette Scavo bit her lip. "Next week is Grandpa's eightieth birthday. He wants to see you." 0
"Have the PR department prepare a gift." 0
"Luke!" She was getting anxious. "You promised you would..." 0
"Assistant, show her out." 0
I stifled a laugh as I escorted her out, only to turn around and meet Luke Dunphy's knowing gaze. 0
"Quite capable, aren't you? Even know when others are on birth control." 0
"You seem to care about gossip too?" 0
He chuckled lightly and walked over to me. 0
The height difference made him look down at me almost condescendingly. "And you, throwing coffee just because someone is talking behind your back?" 0
I raised my chin defiantly. "Well, you weren't planning on paying me anyway." 0
"Who said that?" He suddenly leaned in closer, his breath warm against my ear. "I'll pay you at the end of the month, whatever amount you want." 0
My ears instantly flushed, and I hurriedly stepped back, bumping into the filing cabinet behind me. 0
His hand braced against the wall beside my ear, trapping me in the small space. 0
"As long as..." he narrowed his eyes, "you tell me why you're going to see Larry Fower for medication." 0
"What does it have to do with you?" I instinctively retorted. 0
"Of course it concerns me." His voice turned icy. 0
"Do you think those inferior Inhibitors were given to you by Larry Fower? Would you dare take medication from him?" 0
I was taken aback. 0
The medication that had kept me alive until now was actually given by Dr. Larry? 0
But why would he help me? 0
Luke Dunphy observed my expression and sneered. 0
"It seems you still don't know? Well, someone like you is the easiest to sell out and then help count the money." 0
"Dr. Larry isn't that kind of person!" 0
"Oh? Then tell me, what kind of person is he?" 0

He suddenly grasped my chin. "How long have you known him? Do you know his true identity?" 0

I was at a loss for words. 0

Indeed, I knew nothing about Larry Fower. All I knew was that he was the attending physician at the hospital, and he was the one who helped me every time I went for a follow-up. 0

"Don't know?" Luke Dunphy's thumb brushed against the corner of my lips. "Then let me tell you, he is..." 0

Before he could finish, the office door swung open. 0

"Luke, there's a meeting..." Larry Fower's voice abruptly cut off. 0

The air seemed to freeze. 0

I pushed Luke Dunphy away and saw Larry Fower standing at the door, his expression inscrutable. 0

"Doctor Larry..." 0

"I'm sorry," he smiled gently, still warm, "I didn't mean to interrupt." 0

But Luke Dunphy pulled me back into his embrace. "Not an interruption; we were just talking about you." 0

I felt his tightening arms, the grip strong enough to almost crush me into his bones. 0

What was up with this man? Why was he acting so strangely? 0

Larry Fower's gaze shifted between us before finally settling on Luke Dunphy. "Luke, about that medication..." 0

"My person, I'll handle it," Luke Dunphy interrupted coldly. "You'd better remember your place." 0

Larry Fower fell silent for a moment before turning to leave. 0

"You two..." I struggled to ask, "What is your relationship?" 0

He looked down at me, his eyes unfathomable. "Are you concerned?" 0

"Who cares!" 0

"Is that so?" He suddenly leaned closer, almost about to kiss me. "Then let me share a secret with you..." 0

I nervously shut my eyes but heard him whisper in my ear, "Tonight is a full moon; don't think about escaping." 0

When I opened my eyes and met his teasing gaze, I realized I had been played again. 0

What a jerk! 0
