Lin Mo and Su Yuqing were fully immersed in the study of the ancient tomb's data. As their exploration deepened, they discovered that the Mysterious Symbols seemed closely related to the mechanisms within the tomb. To gather more clues, they decided to enter the mysterious tomb once again.
Upon entering, they moved cautiously. The air in the passage was thick with an ancient scent, and strange shadows flickered on the walls. Lin Mo remained vigilant, his forehead's Striation occasionally emitting a faint glow as if sensing something.
"Be careful; there must be hidden traps here," Su Yuqing whispered, her eyes scanning the walls and floor of the passage intently.
At that moment, Lin Mo suddenly sensed a dangerous presence. Instinctively, he grabbed Su Yuqing and stepped back a few paces. Almost simultaneously, the ground ahead collapsed, revealing a bottomless pit filled with sharp bamboo stakes.
"That was close!" Lin Mo said, still shaken.
They navigated around the pit and continued onward. Soon, they arrived at a spacious burial chamber. In the center stood a massive stone coffin, covered in those Mysterious Symbols.
"These symbols look even more complex than the ones we saw before; they might hide important information," Su Yuqing exclaimed excitedly as she moved closer to the coffin to study the symbols in detail.
However, just as she approached the coffin, it suddenly trembled violently. Immediately, a group of ancient armored Puppet Soldiers surged forth from around it. The Puppet Soldiers moved stiffly but advanced in unison toward Lin Mo and Su Yuqing.
"What’s happening?" Lin Mo exclaimed, his eyes wide with surprise at this unexpected attack.
"These puppets must be controlled by mechanisms; we need to be careful!" Su Yuqing shouted, maintaining her composure despite her fear.
Lin Mo focused his mind, attempting to use his time-traveling abilities to combat the Puppet Soldiers. He noticed that whenever his Striation glowed, the movements of the Puppet Soldiers would momentarily slow down. He exploited this weakness to evade their attacks while searching for their vulnerabilities.
During the intense battle, Lin Mo discovered that the joints of these Puppet Soldiers appeared particularly fragile. Seizing an opportunity, he charged at one of them and delivered a powerful punch to its joint. As expected, its arm fell off instantly, rendering it incapable of attacking.
"Su Yuqing, aim for their joints!" Lin Mo shouted.
Hearing this, Su Yuqing began targeting the joints of the Puppet Soldiers as well. Together, they took down one after another.
Just when they thought the crisis had passed, flickering lights suddenly appeared on the walls of the chamber. In an instant, countless Sharp Arrows shot out from the walls at high speed and in great numbers, making it nearly impossible to evade them.
Lin Mo and Su Yuqing hurriedly dodged around, but several Sharp Arrows grazed their bodies, leaving behind painful wounds.
"We can't keep this up; we need to come up with a plan!" Lin Mo said anxiously.
He scanned the room and noticed a large shield in one corner of the chamber. An idea struck him as he rushed towards it and lifted it high.
"Get behind the shield!" Lin Mo shouted.
Su Yuqing quickly ran behind the shield as Sharp Arrows continued to rain down upon it with a clattering sound.
"We can't stay here forever; we need to find a way to disable the mechanism," Su Yuqing said.
Holding up the shield, Lin Mo observed their surroundings. He realized that the Sharp Arrows were controlled by a massive Gear Mechanism on the wall; if they could destroy this Gear, they could stop the arrows' assault.
"I'll go destroy that Gear Mechanism; you stay here and wait for me," Lin Mo said determinedly.
“No, it’s too dangerous!” Su Yuqing firmly opposed.
“There’s no time! If we keep hesitating, we’ll die here. Don’t worry, I’ll be careful.” Lin Mo said, and without waiting for Su Yuqing to respond, he dashed towards the Gear Mechanism.
As he dodged the Sharp Arrows, Lin Mo narrowly avoided being hit several times. However, with his strong will and agile movements, he finally reached the Gear Mechanism. He noticed a large switch on the Gears; if he could pull it, it would stop the Sharp Arrows' attack.
Taking a deep breath, Lin Mo exerted all his strength to pull the switch. At the moment he did so, the Sharp Arrows ceased their assault, and the tomb fell into temporary silence.
“Lin Mo, are you okay?” Su Yuqing rushed over anxiously.
“I’m fine,” Lin Mo replied, wiping the sweat from his forehead.
They continued to explore the tomb and eventually discovered a hidden compartment at the bottom of the stone coffin. Inside lay an ancient book, covered in Mysterious Symbols.
“This ancient book might be the key to unraveling the mystery,” Su Yuqing exclaimed excitedly.
However, just as they picked up the book, the tomb suddenly shook violently, and stones began to fall from above.
“Oh no! We’ve triggered a more dangerous mechanism; the tomb is going to collapse!” Lin Mo shouted.
They hurried towards the exit of the tomb, but by then, stones had blocked their path. They found themselves in a desperate situation.
“What should we do? We can’t get out!” Su Yuqing’s voice was tinged with despair.
Lin Mo looked at the ancient book in his hands and suddenly thought of a solution. He focused his mind and tried to resonate with the symbols on the book through the Striation on his forehead, harnessing the power of time travel to escape.
As Lin Mo concentrated, the light from his Striation grew stronger, and the symbols on the book began to flicker. The surrounding space seemed to warp as a powerful force enveloped Lin Mo and Su Yuqing.
When they opened their eyes again, they found themselves back at the Archaeological Research Institute.
“We’re finally back!” Su Yuqing sighed in relief.
Lin Mo looked at the ancient book in his hands, filled with hope. He believed that this book would help them uncover the secrets of the curse and time travel.
After returning to the Archaeological Research Institute, Lin Mo and Su Yuqing eagerly began studying the ancient book they had brought back from the tomb. However, the symbols were extremely complex; despite their day-and-night efforts, progress remained slow.
Meanwhile, Lin Mo noticed that as he used his time travel abilities more frequently, his body began to show more signs of strain. The Striation on his forehead spread faster, headaches became more intense, and he often felt weak as if an invisible force was gradually eroding his body. Su Yuqing watched helplessly and worriedly but could only encourage Lin Mo to persevere.
