I turned around and saw He Li Yan standing behind me with a dark expression on his face.
He looked very angry.
I tilted my head slightly and asked, "Is there something wrong?"
He Li Yan strode over and grabbed my wrist tightly. "What did you say to your mother?"
"You can't really be thinking about divorcing me, can you?!" he lowered his voice. "Wen Li, don't be unreasonable!"
He Li Yan was being utterly unreasonable.
"What I said is more genuine than gold," I struggled to pull my wrist away. "Let go of me."
Not only did He Li Yan not loosen his grip, but he tightened it even more.
"Li Li, please don't do this." He softened his tone, trying to coax me.
"Aren't you the one who likes young and handsome? I'm fulfilling that for you." He spoke gently, "Can we just live our lives well together?"
His words were truly surprising.
After so many years of marriage with He Li Yan, he had never spoken to me in such a submissive manner before.
Now, he was saying such things to try to keep me.
It was almost unbelievable.
I pried his fingers apart. "I'm sorry, but I can't sever ties."
He Li Yan's expression suddenly darkened. "Wen Li!"
At that moment, a figure rushed over and pulled He Li Yan away.
It was Xu Jiasheng.
He stood in front of me, coldly staring at He Li Yan. "She doesn't like you getting close to her."
He Li Yan's face changed. "Who are you?"
Xu Jiasheng smirked. "Wen Li's man."
As soon as those words left his mouth, He Li Yan's face turned dark.
Xu Jiasheng, however, smiled charmingly. "Mr. He, since Wen Li doesn't like you, it would be best for you to keep your distance."
"Otherwise..." He deliberately paused, his tone turning harsh, "don't blame me for being rude."
Xu Jiasheng's words were incredibly arrogant.
He Li Yan was furious, his face turning pale. "Who are you?"
Xu Jiasheng looked at me innocently. "Wen Li, tell him who I am."
Xu Jiasheng took my hand, our fingers intertwined tightly, then provocatively looked at He Li Yan.
He smiled boldly. "I am Li Li's new lover."
He Li Yan's face turned pale.
Xu Jiasheng's words were simply too arrogant.
He had always been like this.
He Li Yan fixed his gaze on our intertwined hands, then turned to me and said, "Wen Li, don’t be with this kind of untrustworthy man!"
"He's just a brat!" Xu Jiasheng softened his tone to coax me, "Don't let him fool you!"
Suddenly, Xu Jiasheng released my hand.
I was taken aback for a moment.
In the next second, he stepped forward and grabbed He Li Yan by the collar.
Xu Jiasheng's voice was cold, laced with a strong threat: "Shut your filthy mouth."
"Who are you calling untrustworthy?" He sneered, "He Li Yan, who the hell do you think you are to say that about me?"
Xu Jiasheng let go of him and then turned to me: "Li Li, let's go."
He held my hand as we walked for a while before releasing it.
With his hands in his pockets, he looked at me: "Li Li..."
I interrupted him: "You don’t need to get involved in the divorce; I’ll handle it myself."
Xu Jiasheng stared at me: "Do you need me to accompany you?"
I glanced at him and said, "No need."
Xu Jiasheng closed his eyes for a moment and then apologized, "I'm sorry."
"I was too impulsive just now," he said with a bitter smile. "I was just worried about you."
I sighed, "I understand what you mean."
Xu Jiasheng took my hand and said, "Li Li, I hope you find happiness."
"It doesn't matter whether you ultimately choose me; as long as you're happy, that's enough." He looked at me, his gaze so gentle it felt like it could drown me.
My heart skipped a beat.
"Xu Jiasheng..." I called his name.
Xu Jiasheng turned to me and replied, "Hmm?"
I looked at him seriously and said, "Thank you."
Xu Jiasheng smiled softly, "Li Li, you don't need to thank me."
"I'm just glad to be able to do something for you..." He paused for a moment. "It makes me happy."
A flutter stirred in my heart.
