Xiao Zhuzi sat on the ground, facing a giant snail that towered over her by a head. She was at a loss, her heart racing with a mix of shock and fear that left her speechless. Just moments ago, she had been an ordinary little girl, celebrating her 8th birthday.
Xiao Zhuzi was a petite and delicate girl with large, round, bright black eyes that sparkled like two clear gems set in her small face. To facilitate her daily dance practice, she always wore her hair in a neat bun and loved to skip and hop as she walked. She had been eagerly anticipating her birthday for a long time, unable to sleep the night before due to excitement because her parents promised to take her to the amusement park that day. Unfortunately, the weather had other plans; it started pouring rain early in the morning.
“Oh no! We can’t go to the amusement park!” Xiao Zhuzi thought, feeling utterly dejected. She couldn't even muster the enthusiasm to play games with her parents. The annoying rain continued for most of the day and only finally stopped in the afternoon. Unable to contain herself, Xiao Zhuzi dashed downstairs, muttering to herself, “Even if we can’t go to the amusement park, I can still play with my friends! Mom and Dad, I’ll be back home soon!”
As she turned around a corner, Xiao Zhuzi suddenly halted. Something caught her eye—a giant snail lying on the grass by the roadside. “Wow! Why is this giant snail so big?” Indeed, it was absurdly large! When she picked it up, she realized it was even bigger than her hand! Not only was this giant snail enormous, but its shell was also extraordinary—a colorful spiral hard shell adorned with vibrant patterns that looked stunning. Captivated by the colorful spiral on its shell, Xiao Zhuzi stared in wonder.
As she gazed at it, the surroundings began to warp and blur; the colorful spiral grew larger and larger. An indescribable force enveloped her tightly, and Xiao Zhuzi felt herself spinning uncontrollably toward the center of the colorful spiral! She spun faster and faster until she shrank down and was suddenly sucked into its center!
After an unknown amount of time passed, Xiao Zhuzi slowly regained consciousness. Blinking her eyes to clear her mind, she gasped in astonishment as she exclaimed, “Oh my gosh! Where am I?!”
Everything around her felt strange and wondrous. She found herself in a fantastical world filled with dense forests where tall and peculiar trees twisted into bizarre shapes. They resembled ordinary grass but were extraordinarily tall, their thick branches obscuring the sky. Sunlight filtered through the gaps in the trees, creating beautiful beams of light. Above these towering trees floated some colorful clouds.
Still in shock and trying to comprehend what was happening, Xiao Zhuzi suddenly heard rustling sounds behind her. Turning around revealed an even more astonishing sight!
Yes, you guessed it right—the giant snail from before stood before her once again. Startled, Xiao Zhuzi fell back onto the ground and sat there for several seconds before bursting into screams: “Ah! Oh my gosh! Help! Mom and Dad… waah… come save me!”
Terrified and trembling so much that she couldn’t stand up, Xiao Zhuzi cried out while scrambling backward. Just then, the giant snail spoke: “Hey! Don’t be afraid; please don’t cry! I… I won’t hurt you.” Its voice was deep and gentle, laced with a hint of apology.
“Waaah… where is this place? Who are you? How can a giant snail… hic… be so big? Wait, how can you even talk?!” Xiao Zhuzi sobbed between hiccups as she asked questions while trembling with fear.
“Um… this is Grass Leaf Forest; our village is nearby. I’m the village chief of Snail Village—the one you picked up earlier. I think it’s not that I’m too big; um… please don’t cry when I say this—I believe you’ve somehow shrunk,” the giant snail replied cautiously and slowly, worried that his words might frighten the little girl even more.
Xiao Zhuzi’s eyes widened in disbelief as she pointed at the giant snail and then at herself, her big eyes filled with shock and confusion. “What did you say? Did you say I… shrank?!”
