The woman smiled brightly and explained, "My name is Mei Niang. I am a Fox Demon. After hundreds of years of cultivation, transforming into a human form is not difficult."
I stood there in shock, taking a while to regain my composure before asking, "Then why do you want to help me?"
Mei Niang looked at me, her gaze filled with a hint of tenderness. "You saved my life back then, so I naturally want to repay this kindness. You have a pure heart, completely different from those greedy hunters. I like people like you."

With a long sigh, I turned to her and said, "Sigh, what are your plans? It's too dangerous for you to stay here; sooner or later, someone will find out."
Mei Niang smiled slightly, her eyes revealing a stubborn determination. "I just want to stay with you, Dushan. You saved me, and I must repay you. Moreover... I am fond of this place and fond of you."

I stood up in a panic, inwardly lamenting how this Yuanwai Li seemed to haunt me like a ghost, returning so quickly.
Yuanwai Li let out a cold laugh and walked over slowly. "Zhang Dashan, stop pretending. I heard every word you said today, loud and clear."
I was sweating profusely, my mind racing with worry: "This is bad, what am I going to do now?"
I instinctively glanced at Mei Niang, only to see a flicker of tension in her eyes, though she still tried to maintain her composure. " Yuanwai Li, please don’t misunderstand; we were just joking."
I quickly forced a smile while my mind scrambled for a way to deceive them. Just then, Mei Niang stepped out from behind me and stood firmly in front of Yuanwai Li.
Her figure appeared particularly ethereal under the moonlight, her gaze radiating a chilling intensity. "What do you want from us?"
Upon seeing Mei Niang, Yuanwai Li's eyes widened in greed, a lecherous grin spreading across his face. "Wow, what a stunning beauty! Zhang Dashan, you’ve hidden her away quite well."
My heart sank as I realized the situation had already unraveled. However, Mei Niang showed no fear; she stared coldly at Yuanwai Li. "You should leave now, or don’t blame me for turning hostile."
Yuanwai Li burst into laughter as if he had heard the funniest joke in the world. He then waved his hand at his men and shouted fiercely, "Grab her! A beautiful vixen like her cannot be allowed to escape!"
"Y-You, don’t come any closer!" I shouted in panic, trying to get up. But the pain in my leg sent me crashing back down to the ground.
