Wu Youyou checked her WeChat nickname, "Little Rascal," which she had forcefully changed before. She handed her phone back to Zong Jin and commanded, "You’re not allowed to change this nickname, got it?"
Zong Jin chuckled, "Looks like it’s going to rain."
Wu Youyou waved him off, urging, "You go wait in the car first. I need to talk to my sister alone. No eavesdropping!"
As Zong Jin walked away, Wu Youyou's expression turned slightly serious. She silently gazed at her sister's gravestone and sighed quietly. After a long silence, she finally spoke, "Sister, if you could hear me, I want to be by Zong Jin's side for the rest of my life. Actually, Zong Jin is right; if I meet someone who makes my heart flutter, nothing could pull me back. I feel like I’m already that person who can’t be pulled back. Would you blame me for this, sister?"
In the distance, Zong Jin shouted back at her, "Little Rascal! It’s raining!"
Wu Youyou responded loudly, "I know! I’m just telling my sister about you! Don’t rush me!"
Zong Jin stood at the intersection with a helpless smile. At that moment, he received a WeChat message from Dao Wen, whom he had just added as a friend last night.
Dao Wen sent: "Zong, what time shall we meet today? Where?"
Zong Jin replied: "Let’s meet alone first to discuss things. Tonight, Tong Le will invite you over for dinner at her place. It would be more prudent to meet in advance."
Dao Wen responded: "Forget about the rehearsal; it’s not a big deal. I already understand your situation. How about we just meet directly at your house tonight? I really can’t spare any extra time today."
Zong Jin replied: "Thank you; I will pay you for your trouble."
Dao Wen: "No need for formalities; it’s my duty as Tong Le’s friend. See you tonight."
At Tongshan Real Estate Company, Tong Le was seated at her desk, refining yesterday's Project Proposal when Jiang Zhichao sidled up next to her and whispered, "Didn’t Ke Zong come home last night? Did he pull an all-nighter at the office?"
Tong Le nodded. "Yeah, he didn’t come home. How did you know?"
Jiang Zhichao immediately pulled out his phone and opened female colleague Amy's WeChat Moments. "Look! At two in the morning last night, she posted that they were still at the office! She said she wanted to stay with Ke Zong to tackle challenges together!" He added that Amy hadn’t gone home either and had stayed up late with Ke Zong.
Jiang Zhichao couldn’t understand it. "I mean, boss lady, aren’t you worried that your husband didn’t come home all night?"
Tong Le wasn’t worried at all; in fact, she preferred if Ke Wenjie stayed out every night—after all, it meant he was enjoying himself!
Tong Le rolled her eyes and whispered, "Do you know if Amy and my husband have gotten together?"
Jiang Zhichao frowned. "What do you think? With Amy’s limited professional background, do you really think she could be someone important by Ke Zong’s side?"
He leaned closer to Tong Le and whispered conspiratorially, "I heard from colleagues that one afternoon during lunch break when everyone was resting, someone came back to grab something and overheard Amy breathing heavily in the office. I suspect there’s definitely something going on."
Tong Le raised an eyebrow, realizing something.
Jiang Zhichao looked confused. "I don’t get it. Aren't you even a little angry? A normal person would want to draw a knife and kill her upon hearing something like this!"
Tong Le shrugged, turning back. "Not angry at all. What's there to be angry about?"
