Tian Ling quickly replied, "My mom is arriving tomorrow. I remember what you told me about getting your mother-in-law's money out in a reasonable and legal way. I've already spoken to my mom, and she said there's a way to do it."
Tong Le confirmed, "It has to be reasonable and legal. We can't let your mom get dragged into this."
Tian Ling reassured her, "Don't worry. My mom has been in the insurance business for decades; she knows how to handle these things and won't get into trouble. Besides, the money from selling the house doesn't actually belong to your mother-in-law; it was yours to begin with. We're just making sure that your mother-in-law doesn't take advantage of it."
Tong Le replied, "Let's discuss the specifics when we meet."
After sending the message, Tong Le looked at herself in the mirror. The small bathroom was one of the few places in the house where she could find some peace.
She had long anticipated that once their current house was sold, Ke Wenjie would definitely transfer the proceeds into Zhang Huizhi's name. After being shuffled around as marital assets, it would eventually become Zhang Huizhi's personal property.
The results from the private investigator she had hired confirmed this. Ke Wenjie had established a new company under Zhang Huizhi's name and was funneling lucrative business opportunities to it while transferring a portion of the profits earned from Tongshan Real Estate into Zhang Huizhi's account.
Tong Le couldn't be sure how much Zhang Huizhi actually had under her name—perhaps even Zhang Huizhi herself didn't know—but she was certain that there was a significant amount of cash involved, all of which had been secretly siphoned off by Ke Wenjie over the years.
Determined, Tong Le resolved to use some tactics to extract that money.
At that moment, her phone buzzed with two WeChat messages from Lan Qingqing and Zong Zeyu.
Lan Qingqing: "Are you coming shopping with me this afternoon? You can't keep rejecting me; you've turned me down several times already!"
Zong Zeyu: "7 PM at Dao Wen's bar, Zong Jin is treating."
Tong Le replied to Lan Qingqing: "How about you come pick me up?"
Half an hour later, Lan Qingqing arrived at Tong Le's home.
She didn't come empty-handed; she brought fruits and small gifts that made Zhang Huizhi smile with delight.
While Tong Le changed clothes in her bedroom, Lan Qingqing took the shopping bags to the kitchen where Ke Wenjie was drinking water.
Lan Qingqing playfully touched Ke Wenjie under the table, nearly causing her to spit out her warm water.
Ke Wenjie whispered nervously, "Are you crazy? Tong Le is home!"
Lan Qingqing leaned closer to Ke Wenjie, teasingly saying, "What's wrong with Tong Le's house? You're all mine!"
In the living room, Tong Le called out for Lan Qingqing. Lan Qingqing lightly kissed Ke Wenjie on the lips and whispered, "I'll see you later at my place."
Together, Lan Qingqing and Tong Le left for a high-end shopping mall.
Lan Qingqing bought two completely different outfits—from her previous chic style and green tea look to a more understated cotton-linen style.
She even went to a hair salon and changed her hairstyle, opting for soft, flowing long hair that looked much more relaxed than before.
Tong Le truly could not understand Lan Qingqing's recent behavior. As Lan Qingqing selected a foundation from the cosmetics store, Tong Le remarked, "These things you've bought, along with your new hairstyle, are completely not your style."
Lan Qingqing turned around, her speech becoming more refined. "Lele, could you accompany me to the bookstore later? I want to buy a few books of poetry."
Tong Le was even more confused. Back in their school days, getting Lan Qingqing to look at poetry for even a moment was as difficult as forcing her to take traditional Chinese medicine. Now she was actually beginning to embrace the culture of Poetry Lyrics?
Something was definitely off; Tong Le sensed that things were not as simple as they seemed.
