Ke Jie smiled broadly at Tong Le and said, "Honey, are you doing this on purpose? Pretending to trick me into thinking Yi Sheng Architecture rejected our collaboration just to see my reaction before giving me a big surprise?"
He tapped on his phone on the table. "Just now, someone from Yi Sheng Architecture called me and said they sent over the contract and the quotation. If everything looks good, we should sign soon. I’ve checked it, and there are no issues with the contract. What surprised me the most was the quotation; it’s the lowest in the industry!"
The more he spoke, the more excited he became. "If we go with the price Yi Sheng Architecture offered, they would be practically losing money, while we could make a significant profit!"
Ke Jie stood up and thanked Tong Le. "Honey, choosing Yi Sheng Architecture as our partner was such a smart move! You truly are my wise supporter!"
He wanted to embrace her, but Tong Le sidestepped him and went to the dining table to check the contract. Ke Jie was still lost in his joy. "Alright, you take a look; I’ll pour you a cup of hot water."
Tong Le frowned in confusion. However, what Ke Jie said was true; on her way to work, Yi Sheng Architecture had expressed their willingness to collaborate and even provided a price that suggested they would be losing money.
At this moment, Tong Le was even more convinced that Hou Yi from Yi Sheng Architecture was insane—seriously so!
Ke Jie brought the hot water to Tong Le and cheerfully said, "This afternoon, you need to go to Zong Group in person to deliver a confidential document. Just make sure not to let anything slip about Yi Sheng Architecture's pricing; otherwise, Zong's people might think we’re just trying to take advantage of them."
Tong Le took the hot water and glanced at Ke Jie. Wasn’t he just the one who loved taking advantage of others?
She spoke up, "We can’t collaborate with Yi Sheng Architecture at this price; it clearly raises red flags. No company would operate like this; we can’t take advantage of such an obvious bargain."
Ke Jie pulled Tong Le up from the dining table and reminded her, "You can’t make decisions on this matter. I’ve already spoken with them; we’re signing the contract today. I’ll have Jiang Zhichao handle it. You just need to pack your things and go deliver that document to Zong Group."
Tong Le insisted again, "Such a low price is suspiciously profitable. Don’t you think there’s something wrong? What if it’s a trap? Even if it’s not a trap, you know they’re losing money; shouldn’t you think about why they would offer such a price? Ke Jie, opportunities like this don’t just fall from the sky!"
Ke Jie began to lose his patience. "The contract is right there in black and white! They set the price themselves; it’s not like we made them do it! What are you afraid of? Just think of them as fools or as new employees who accidentally inputted the wrong unit price. How does that concern us? I’m here to do business, not charity! If there’s profit to be made, why wouldn’t I take it? If they realize later that their pricing is off and want to back out, I’ll have already signed the contract! Even if they have to bleed money over it, they’ll still have to deliver everything! Otherwise, I’ll take them straight to court; I won’t lose a single cent! That’s why I said we need to sign this contract quickly—before they have a chance to react!"
Ke Jie was determined. "You women are always too cautious; that’s why you can’t achieve great things! It’s no wonder people say women with long hair have short sight."
Tong Le looked at Ke Jie with disdain. She felt he was hopeless—he had always been hopeless and now even more so. It seemed he had completely forgotten that everything about Tongshan Real Estate today wasn’t solely due to his efforts but rather because of her father and her own hard work over decades.
In reality, the company would continue operating normally whether or not Ke Jie existed; the difference lay in whether there was guidance or not—one would earn slightly more while the other would earn slightly less.
Tong Le believed that Ke Jie had no idea how to build a successful company from scratch. His current arrogance and excessive self-satisfaction were merely him transferring all of Tongshan Real Estate's past achievements onto himself.
People truly forget their roots when living comfortably for too long; they mistakenly believe their abilities surpass everything while ignoring how high their starting point actually was. If it weren’t for this fundamentally mismatched marriage, even if Ke Jie were given fifty more years, he wouldn’t be able to achieve what Tongshan Real Estate has today.
What Ke Jie was doing now was merely adding bricks onto an already established commercial structure. In reality, managing a company is most challenging during its foundational stages when establishing itself. Ke Jie shamelessly flaunted Tongshan Real Estate's name while dishonestly claiming all past and future achievements as his own efforts and capabilities—this was nothing short of deceitful.
Tong Le found it laughable but didn’t bother arguing further; she knew she couldn’t have an intelligent conversation with someone who thought so highly of himself.
After leaving Ke Jie’s office, she walked alone down the corridor intending to call someone from Yi Sheng Architecture. However, when she opened her phone screen, she saw missed calls and friend requests on WeChat.
The note read: Hou Yi.
Tong Le accepted the friend request and immediately sent a message, stating that they would not cooperate and adding a touch of humiliation.
"What kind of medicine are you selling in that gourd, President Hou?"
Hou Yi replied, "The medicine in my gourd won't heal the wound on your arm, but I can offer you a contract price that might help mend your heart."
Tong Le was left speechless.
Hou Yi continued, "I won't give you the bracelet for now. I'll give it to you when I get tired of wearing it."
Tong Le shot back, "Let's cancel the collaboration. I don't want to take small advantages and end up suffering big losses. I can't afford to deal with someone as emotionally unstable as you!"
Hou Yi responded, "??? Are you trying to provoke me? Where am I emotionally unstable?????"
Tong Le retorted, "With all those question marks you've sent, how stable do you think you are??????"
Hou Yi exclaimed, "Damn!"
Tong Le smirked, "See? This is what you call stability!"
